Rocky Ground
Other people are like seeds that were planted on rocky ground. Whenever they hear the word, they accept it at once with joy. But they don’t develop any roots. They last for a short time. When suffering or persecution comes along because of the word, they immediately fall from faith. —Mark 4:16-17 (GW)
Some believers respond with great enthusiasm to the Word they hear preached on Sunday, then allow the devil to beat them up Monday through Saturday. Make sure you get deeply rooted and grounded in God, in His Word and in the love of Christ, so you can endure the trials and strengthen your faith. Let the Word of God be planted on the good ground of your heart and it will bear fruit, some thirty, some sixty, and some a hundred times what was sown (Mark 4:20).
