Be Very Attentive

And He was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him, and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him. —Luke 19:47-48 (NKJV)

The Amplified Bible says: all the people stayed close to Him and were hanging on to every word Jesus said (Luke 19:48). In Luke 10:39-40, Mary sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to His word. But Martha was distracted with all her preparations. And Jesus said, “…Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42) Once we know the truth, no one can take it away from us. Instead of being distracted, may we be very attentive to the Word of God, daily. Let us stay close to Him, and hang on to every Word Jesus taught.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword… (Hebrews 4:12a NKJV) The Amplified Bible says, it is energizing, and effective. And the Message Bible says, it is like a surgeon’s scalpel, laying us open to listen and obey. Amen.

Be Captivated by Christ
