Don’t be Surprised

Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. Instead, be very glad... —1 Peter 4:12-13a (NLT)

The Amplified Bible explains that the fiery ordeal which is taking place is to test the quality of our faith. In John 16:33, Jesus warned His disciples that here on earth we will have many trials and sorrows. But He instructed us to be courageous and filled with joy, because He has overcome the world. And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. (Romans 8:28 AMP)
