Come to Your Senses

“When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger! I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.”’
Luke 15:17-19 (NLT)

Jesus tells the parable of the Prodigal Son. A certain man had two sons. The younger of them demanded his share of his father’s estate. He packed all his belongings and moved to a distant land, where he wasted all his money in wild living. About the time his money ran out, a great famine swept over the land, and he began to starve. (See Luke 15:11-14) Luke 15:16 (AMP) says, …and no one was giving anything to him.

The moment we stray away from our heavenly Father, we are in danger of starving to death, because we are disconnected from our life Source. In John 6:35 (AMP), Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life. The one who comes to Me will never be hungry, and the one who believes in Me [as Savior] will never be thirsty [for that one will be sustained spiritually].” If you have strayed off the path that leads to our heavenly Father, come to your senses and return home to Abba Father. He is waiting with open arms and desires to hold you close to Him.

“So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. Luke 15:20 (NLT)
