Overcome

Overcome every form of evil as a victorious soldier of Jesus the Anointed One. For every soldier called to active duty must divorce himself from the distractions of this world so that he may fully satisfy the one who chose him. —2 Timothy 2:3-4 (TPT)

We are to overcome evil, not let it overtake us. First John 5:4 (NASB), says whatever is born of God overcomes the world. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:21 NASB) No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. (2 Timothy 2:4 NASB) Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8 NLT) And arm yourself with the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. (See Ephesians 6:17)

For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. —1 Thessalonians 5:5-6 (NLT)
