What are you watching?

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.Hebrews 12:1-2 (NLT)

What are you watching? The nightly, negative news, the stock market, your bank account? The Word of God instructs us to fix our eyes on Jesus, not current earthly circumstances. Jesus is the answer. The Amplified Bible says, “[looking away from all that will distract us and] focusing our eyes on Jesus, who is the Author and Perfecter of faith…” (Hebrews 12:2). If our eyes are fixed on Jesus, we will not compare our race to another person’s course. With our eyes on Jesus, we will not be able to critique how well a brother or sister is running their race.

You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? (Galatians 5:7 NLT) Don’t fall for the distractions of the enemy. Stay focused and passionately and purposefully pursue a deeper and more intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior, King Jesus the Christ. He will enable you to run in such a way that you may be victorious.

...we run our race to win a victor’s crown that will last forever. 1 Corinthians 9:25b (TPT)
