Have Faith to Follow

Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus.Matthew 14:28-29 (NASB1995)

Peter got out of the boat when Jesus commanded him to come. As we listen for and follow the commands of our Lord and Savior, we will have our own walking on water experiences. However, we have to be willing to get out of the boat, our comfort zone and all that is familiar. No excuses. If He calls us to go out into the deep, may we carry out His instruction. When Peter saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”(See Matthew 14:30-31 NLT) When we look around at external circumstances, we get overwhelmed, anxious and begin to doubt. This will cause us to start sinking. So let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of faith.
