Watch Your Words

And the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our body’s parts as that which defiles the whole body and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell.James 3:6 (NASB)

James 3:8 (NASB) says, the tongue is full of deadly poison. However, both death and life are in the power of the tongue (See Proverbs 18:21 NASB), so we need to choose our words carefully. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right! (James 3:9-10 NLT) Let us speak life over our lives, and the lives of others. Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. (Proverbs 16:24 NLT) Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! (Proverbs 15:23 NLT)
