Chosen & Called

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. —1 Peter 2:9 (NASB)

“The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.” (Matthew 4:16 NKJV) We have been chosen by God, and called out of the darkness and into His marvelous light. We are the generation God chose to be here for such a time as this. We have been called to lay aside the deeds of those dwelling in darkness and proclaim the praises of our Heavenly Father. We are to be holy, set apart from worldly ways. We are chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.
