Watch Your Words
And He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?” —Luke 24:17 (NKJV)
These two disciples were sad because they were discussing how Jesus had been condemned to death, and crucified. Our words will effect our moods. Acts 2:26 (NKJV) says, my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. A glad tongue speaks of the good things God is doing and then the flesh can rest and be full of hope.
Let us be mindful of the words we speak. Philippians 2:14-15 (NKJV) says, do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. The Israelite people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when he heard them his anger was aroused (Numbers 11:1a NIV).
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone (Colossians 4:6 NIV). Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works! (Psalm 105:2 NKJV). When we talk of all His wondrous works, it is a reminder of God's goodness. As a result, we will have a more cheerful disposition and a positive outlook on life.
