Seedtime & Harvest

Image
“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” — Genesis 8:22 (NIV) God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so. (Genesis 1:11 NKJV). As long as the earth remains seeds will produce according to their own kind. If we want a harvest of good and positive, we have to speak words (seeds) that are good and positive. If you want peace, speak words of peace. Negative words suck the life out of those who hear them. Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are in the power of our tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. As we speak positive words over our lives and the lives of others, and continue to water those seeds with the powerful Word of God, we will produce a harvest of like kind.

What's Growing in Your Garden?

Image
Do all things without complaining and disputing, — Philippians 2:14 (NKJV) Your words are seeds that germinate in the soil of your heart. They will either produce life or death. Proverbs 18:21 says, death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. When you criticize, complain, bicker, and engage in faultfinding, your words produce poisonous weeds that will choke the life out of the hearer. May we speak positive, uplifting praiseworthy words of encouragement over our lives and into the lives of others. Then the garden of our hearts will thrive and produce a harvest full of life, strength and beauty.

Gracious Words

Words from the mouth of the wise are gracious, but fools are consumed by their own lips.  — Ecclesiastes 10:12 (NIV) May our speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, (Colossians 4:6a). Just as attractive and enjoyable as a well-seasoned meal, are words sprinkled with grace. Gracious words highlight the positive in others and always has a good report. Words of grace are never critical, but always full of love and understanding. Everything we say should be kind and well thought out so that we may have the right response for everyone. Everyone enjoys a fitting reply; it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! (Proverbs 15:23, NLT).

Imitate God

Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day. — Genesis 1:31 (NKJV) God looked at all He created and said it was good. Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good (3 John 1:11a). Be a creator of good things in your sphere of influence. Speak positive, life-giving words into your atmosphere (Proverbs 18:10). Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God (3 John 1:11b, NLT).
