Listen for His Voice

Image
…and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice . — 1 Kings 19:12 (NKJV) When your world has been shaken, or there is nothing left but rubble and ashes, listen carefully for the still small voice of the LORD. Close your ear to the constant chatter of this world and tune in to the voice of Almighty God. When the doctor gives that bad report, open your ear to hear the healing Word of the LORD. The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is full of majesty. (Psalm 29:4 NKJV) The LORD spoke and created the heavens and the earth. Jesus spoke and the dead were raised to life. (Luke 7:14-15, John 11:42-44) Instead of exposing yourself to the noise of the negative nightly news, tune into the Presence of the LORD and listen for what He is saying. I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying, for he speaks peace to his faithful people. But let them not return to their foolish ways. — Psalm 85:8 (NLT)

Time Out

“Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God, above politics, above everything.” — Psalm 46:10 (MSG) In the Amplified Bible, Psalm 46:10a says,  “Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God.” I hear the Psalmist saying, take a time out. Recognize that He is a great and mighty God, full of grace, mercy and compassion. Acknowledge His Presence in your life. When you go through the floods and the fire, He is there. Understand that even when the world shuns you, our heavenly Father loves and cherishes you. He continually draws us closer to Him. When you give attention to our great God, everything else comes into proper perspective. He is exalted above all else. He is bigger, stronger and wiser than anything or anyone that comes against us. “ I w...

See What the LORD Says!

Are you listening? I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the LORD says and how he will answer my complaint. — Habakkuk 2:1 (NLT) Have you ever had someone ask you and question and then not listen for the answer? Sometimes we pour out our questions to God and never listen for His reply. There is a lot of noise in the world. We have to be careful whose voice we choose to listen to. May we drown out the meaningless chatter and listen intently for His voice. The Holy Spirit is always speaking to us. Just like we program our favorite radio station for easy access, we have to stay tuned in to His still small voice to receive His wise counsel and guidance.
