Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 3:13-14 (NASB1995) In order to move onward and upward with Yeshua, we need to forget what lies behind. Forget those who did you wrong, who falsely accused you, or abandoned you, etc. We need to let go of any material things or accomplishments we hold onto so dearly, and strive to know and become personally acquainted with our Lord and Savior. In Philippians 3:13 (TPT), the Apostle Paul says: “… I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead.”  Another thing that will enable us to press on toward the call of God is stripping off every unnecessary weight and the sin which so easily and cleverly entangles us, and run with endurance and active persistence the race that is set before us, looking away from all that will...

But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” — Luke 9:62 (NKJV) In Luke 17:32, Yeshua said: “Remember Lot’s wife.” In Genesis 19:17, Lot was warned by one of the angels who took his family out of Sodom, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you…” But his wife, from behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude… (Philippians 3:13-15 NASB1995) No looking back. Yahweh is calling us to a higher level and a deeper walk.

Trust [confidently] in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him. God is a refuge for us. Selah. — Psalms 62:8 (AMP) Let everyone who is godly pray to Yahweh at a time when He may be found. (See Psalms 32:6) He pardons all our iniquities. He heals all our diseases. He redeems our lives from the pit, and crowns us with lovingkindness and compassion. (See Psalm 103:3-4) Our everlasting God is good and faithful. Regardless of your current circumstances, keep pressing on with Him. Commit your way to Yahweh, trust in Him, and He will do it. (Psalm 37:5 LSB) As for me, I shall call upon God, and Yahweh will save me. Evening and morning and at noon, I will bring my complaint and moan, and He will hear my voice. — Psalms 55:16-17 (LSB)

“Stop dwelling on the past. Don’t even remember these former things. I am doing something brand new, something unheard of. Even now it sprouts and grows and matures. Don’t you perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and open up flowing streams in the desert.” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (TPT) In Philippians 3:12-14 (AMP), the Apostle Pauls says: “Not that I have already obtained it [this goal of being Christlike] or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that [perfection] for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”  Stop dwelling on the past. Let us actively press on, moving onward and forward, and run with perseverance, the race that is set before us. Fight the good ...

Come, let us return to the LORD! Remember [what happened to] Lot’s wife [when she looked back]! — Luke 17:32 (AMP) When Lot and his family were being rescued from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot’s wife looked back, after being warned by the angels not to look back. They were told to escape to the mountains, or they would be swept away. But his wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. (See Genesis 19:15-17,19:26) Don’t look back on that low, valley living with regret, or longing. Let go of any anger and bitterness from past wrongs. Today is the day the LORD has made. He is a very present and well-proved help for what you need today. Do not compare your course to your neighbor’s route. Instead, strip off every weight that slows you down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And run with endurance the race God has set before you. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. — Hebrews 4:14-15 (MSG) This world is full of mass distractions, that will draw us away from God and cause us to wander. So, let us purposefully, press on to know the LORD. (Hosea 6:3a) Let us become personally acquainted with Him and continually grow in our understanding of His greatness and faithfulness. We have an open invitation to draw near. Therefore let us [with privilege] approach the throne of grace [that is, the throne of God’s gracious favor] with confidence and without fear, so that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find [His amazing] grace to help in time of need [an appropriate blessing, coming just at the right moment]. (Hebrews 4:16 AMP)

“When Gideon came to the Jordan, he and the three hundred men who were with him crossed over, exhausted but still in pursuit.” — Judges 8:4 (NKJV) Let us press on and continually pursue the things that our heavenly Father has called us to, and we will fulfill our purpose. We will reach our desired destination. First Timothy 6:11, tells us to pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness. Romans 14:19 says to pursue the things which make for peace. Hosea 6:3 instructs us to pursue the knowledge of the Lord. When we come to end of ourselves, let us draw strength from the LORD, our Source. And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14  NKJV)

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. — Hebrews 12:1-2a (NLT) Let us lay aside every weight, anything that slows us down, and run our race with endurance. Instead of telling your neighbor how to run their race, keep your eyes on Jesus and press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. It will not be enough to satisfy. Daily delight yourself in the  LORD, and you will experience fullness of joy in His Presence, and pleasures forevermore.. Seek and deeply long for the LORD and His strength [His power, His might]; Seek and deeply long for His face and His presence continually. (Psalm 105:4 AMP)
