“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;” — Isaiah 61:1 (NKJV) When Yeshua read this Scripture in the synagogue, He said: “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (See Luke 4:16-21) It is done! Yeshua brought the good news to the poor and afflicted. He healed the brokenhearted and set the captives free. He comforts all who mourn, and gives us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. That we may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” (See Isaiah 61:2-3 NKJV) We should no longer be slaves of sin. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; — Isaiah 61:1 (NASB) Our heavenly Father sent Jesus to earth with Good News, for all people. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19) We may have many troubles, but the good news is that the LORD comes to the rescue each time. Jesus binds up the wounds of the brokenhearted and brings healing. If the enemy is holding you captive in any area of your life, Jesus has set you free. The doors of the prison are open, and He has pardoned all prisoners. You no longer have to remain bound or confined. He has shined a great light on those who walk in darkness (Isaiah 9:2). Rejoice! “The time of the LORD’s favor has come.” (Luke 4:19 NLT)

“And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.”  — Matthew‬ ‭14:14‬ ‭(NKJV‬) “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). He is still moved with compassion. It is in the heart of Jesus to be compassionate. While the disciples wanted to send the crowd away, Jesus wanted to take care of their needs. He is the great Physician who heals the sick. He feeds the hungry and clothes the naked. He is the good Shepherd who watches over the sheep and guides them along the path of life. He gives light to those who dwell in darkness. To the prisoners of life circumstances, He provides liberty. He lifts up the heads of those bowed down and fills our minds with peace and joy.

You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. — Galatians 5:13 (NIV) Once we have been set free, it is our responsibility to make wise choices, to ensure that we live free. Every day we make decisions that lead to life or death. The LORD set before us life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live (Deuteronomy 30:19 NIV). Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD (Joshua 24:15 NKJV). Choose to love, laugh, and forgive. Choose to be kind and walk in the light of the LORD! Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.  — Galatians 5:1 (MSG)

He proclaims liberty to the captives, healing to those who are brokenhearted. The Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8 NLT). He sets us free from fear, worry, bondage, addictions, etc. You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free (Galatians 5:13 NIV). Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1 NKJV).

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;” — Luke 4:18 (NKJV) Our Heavenly Father sent Jesus to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity] (Luke 4:18 AMP). Today as we celebrate America’s Independence, declare your independence as a disciple of Christ. Announce your fredom from the schemes of the enemy. He no longer has the power to oppress you, unless you give it to him. Celebrate the freedom and victory we have in Christ. Hallelujah!

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery . — Galatians 5:1 (NIV) Jesus said, “I tell you most solemnly that anyone who chooses a life of sin is trapped in a dead-end life and is, in fact, a slave. A slave is a transient, who can’t come and go at will. The Son, though, has an established position, the run of the house. So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through (John 8:34-36 MSG). In our pursuit of happiness, let us remember that true liberty and abundant life are found in Jesus, our Lord and Savior. He paid the ultimate price with His precious blood and gave His life for us all!

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. — Galatians 4:4-5 (NKJV) The fullness of time has already come. Now is the the time of salvation. Now is the time of deliverance. Jesus was sent to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1b). This Good News is to be proclaimed all over the world, to all people. JESUS is the greatest and most perfect gift anyone can receive!

Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” — Acts 3:6 (NKJV) We may not have the resources to help someone in need, but we can give them what we do have, Jesus the Christ, the Great Physician. He is the only hope for a lost and dying world. Let them know, Jesus came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows) (John 10:10 AMP). He was sent to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1). To comfort and console all who mourn, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:2-3). If any are sick among you, pray for them. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up (James 5:15).

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” — Luke 7:22-23 (NKJV) John sent two of his disciples to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” (Luke 7:10). Let there be NO doubt, Jesus is the One! He is the only One who shed His blood and gave His life, to set us free from sin, death and hell. This Jesus was sent to heal the brokenhearted, and to proclaim liberty to the captives (Isaiah 61:1-2). Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36)! Hallelujah!

Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules. Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritual family. Revere God. Respect the government. 1 Peter 2:16-17 (The Message) Jesus Christ was sent to heal the brokenhearted, and proclaim liberty to the captives (Isaiah 61:1). Let us live as free people, free from bondage, sin and death. Free to pursue the dreams and desires of our hearts. Enjoy the benefits of freedom: peace, prosperity and happiness. In America, we have the power of choice. Use it wisely.
