Every Good Thing

Image
Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” — Psalms 16:1-2 (NLT) Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17 NASB1995) The LORD alone is our inheritance, our cup of blessing. He guards all that is ours. (See Psalms 16:5 NLT) “I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” (Psalms 16:7-8 NLT) Give thanks to Yahweh! Let all that I am praise the LORD. Praise His holy name, with your whole heart. May we never forget the good things He does for us. He will show you the way of life, granting you the joy of His presence and the pleasures of living with Him forever. (See Psalms 103:1-2 & 16:11)

Our Refuge

Image
Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” — Psalms 16:1-2 (NLT) “Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” (Psalms 73:25-26 NLT) “LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.” (Psalms 16:5) “I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” (Psalms 16:7-8 NLT) Take refuge in YAHWEH.  For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD bestows grace and favor and honor; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. — Psalms 84:11 (AMP)

A Shield About Me

Image
But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head. I was crying to the LORD with my voice, and He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah. — Psalms 3:3-4 (NASB1995) Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all who come to him for protection. (Proverbs 30:5 NLT) Just as soldiers have to keep a tight hold on their shield for it to be effective, we have to hold onto Yahweh, and hide in Him to be kept safe from the flaming arrows of the evil one. Blessed be the LORD, because He has heard the voice of my supplication. The LORD is my strength and my [impenetrable] shield; My heart trusts [with unwavering confidence] in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him. (Psalms 28:6-7 AMP) Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken. (Psalms 55:22 NASB1995) …I have trusted in Your lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation....

Safe & Sound

Image
“Yahweh, you’re the bedrock beneath my feet, my faith-fortress, my wonderful deliverer, my God, my rock of rescue where none can reach me. You’re the shield around me, the mighty power that saves me, and my high place. All I need to do is to call on you, Yahweh, the praiseworthy God. When I do, I’m safe and sound in you— delivered from my foes!” — Psalms 18:2-3 (TPT) God’s way is perfect. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. (Psalm 18:30 NLT) You have armed me with strength for the battle; you have subdued my enemies under my feet. For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble. (Psalm 18:39 NT) You surround me with songs of victory. Interlude (Psalm 32:7 NLT) Abide in the LORD. He equips us for the battle and ensures us of victory.

His Love Never Fails

Image
Praise the LORD, for he has shown me the wonders of his unfailing love. He kept me safe when my city was under attack . — Psalm 31:21 (NLT) Let us rejoice in the unfailing love of the LORD. Because the Most High God is a God of forgiveness, grace and mercy. He is slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. (Romans 8:38 NLT) You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care. (Job 10:12 NLT)  I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love, for you have seen my troubles, and you care about the anguish of my soul. (Psalm 31:7 NLT)

A Safe & Powerful Place

Image
God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble— more than enough and always available whenever I need you. So we will never fear even if every structure of support were to crumble away. We will not fear even when the earth quakes and shakes, moving mountains and casting them into the sea. — Psalm 46:1-2 (TPT) ‘Do not yield to fear, for I am always near. Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand.’ (Isaiah 41:10 TPT) We need God every moment of every day. Look to Him always. God is your helper and the sustainer of your soul. (Psalm 54:4) He will accomplish what concerns you. His lovingkindness is everlasting. (See Psalm 138:8)

Hope in God

Image
Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why have you become restless and disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God. — Psalm 42:11 (AMP) Hold onto your hope in God. It serves as an anchor, holding you close to the Lord, and keeping you from drifting away by the waves of doubt and fear. This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells], (Hebrews 6:19 AMP) So I say to my soul, “Don’t be discouraged. Don’t be disturbed. For I know my God will break through for me.” Then I’ll have plenty of reasons to praise him all over again. Yes, living before his face is my saving grace! — Psalm 42:11 (TPT)

God Above All

Image
Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth. — Psalm 46:10 (TPT) O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! (Psalm 8:1 (NASB) The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe. (Proverbs 18:10 NASB) Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the LORD, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other. — Deuteronomy 4:39 (NASB)

Great is His Goodness

Image
How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world. You hide them in the shelter of your presence, safe from those who conspire against them. You shelter them in your presence, far from accusing tongues. — Psalm 31:19-20 (NLT) Trust in the LORD. Be glad and rejoice in His unfailing love, for He has seen your troubles, and He cares about the anguish of your soul. He has not handed you over to your enemies but has set you in a safe place. (Psalm 31:6-8) He is our rock and our fortress; for His name’s sake He will lead us and guide us. (Psalm 31:3) Follow Him.

A Proven Help

Image
God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble— more than enough and always available whenever I need you. — Psalm 46:1 (TPT) Almighty God is a very present help in times of trouble. His help has been well-proven throughout the generations. God is our shelter and our strength. When troubles seem near, God is closer, and He’s always ready to help. There is no reason to run and hide. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5b-6 NLT)

Follow the Shepherd

Image
The LORD is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. — Psalm 23:1-4 (NLT) Sheep are helpless and not very smart, but they are kept safe as long as they stay close to the shepherd. Instead of trying to figure everything out on our own, we can just keep following Jesus, our Good Shepherd and we shall not want. Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalm 100:3 NKJV) Not only has God created us—a gracious act of love in and of itself—but He has made us His own people. He has chosen us and loved us. (from the VOICE Bible) In John 10:11 Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His lif...

Run to Him

Image
Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see— how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him. — Psalm 34:8 (MSG) O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! (Psalm 34:8 NASB) You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow, say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. (Psalm 91:1-4 MSG) Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah  — Psalm 62:8 (NKJV)

Commit Your Way

Image
Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. — Psalm 37:4-5  (NKJV) Proverbs 28:26 (NLT) says, those who trust their own insight are foolish, but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe. It is wise for us to commit our way to the LORD. As you make your plans for the new year, do not rely on your own insight or understanding. Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], and your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]. (Proverbs 16:3 AMP) You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail. (Proverbs 19:21 NLT) Submit to His will and His way and you will experience the good plans He has in store for you. Amen.

Hold onto Hope

Image
This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells], — Hebrews 6:19 (AMP) “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. (Jeremiah 17:7 NKJV) Our hope in Christ is is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls… It holds us firm and secure in stormy times. When the winds of adversity blow, it keeps us from being tossed to and fro in a sea of uncertainty. So be strong and courageous, all you who put your hope in the LORD! (Psalm 31:24 NLT)

Our Highest Priority

Image
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” — Deuteronomy 31:6 (NKJV) The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in and puts his confidence in the LORD will be exalted and safe. (Proverbs 29:25 AMP) Worship instead of worry. Faith over fear. Make His Presence and praising Him your highest priority. We enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise, who shout on parade in the bright presence of God. Delighted, they dance all day long; they know who you are, what you do—they can’t keep it quiet! Your vibrant beauty has gotten inside us— you’ve been so good to us! We’re walking on air! All we are and have we owe to God, Holy God of Israel, our King! (Psalm 89:15-18 MSG)

Never Shaken

Image
When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, but the righteous has an everlasting foundation. — Proverbs 10:25 (NKJV) We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NLT) In Jesus, we have an everlasting foundation. Storms may come and go, but we have a firm foundation that lasts forever. Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: “Look! I am placing a foundation stone in Jerusalem, a firm and tested stone. It is a precious cornerstone that is safe to build on. Whoever believes need never be shaken.  — Isaiah 28:16 (NLT)

Why Pray?

Image
And He *said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a robbers’ den.” — Matthew 21:13 (NASB) Why pray? It takes our attention off of the problem and puts it on the One who can solve it. Prayer draws us deeper into the Presence of Almighty God. In His Presence is our peace, and our protection. Proverbs 18:10 (NASB), says: The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe . When we pray, we enlist the help of our heavenly Father, and it opens the door for the power of His Holy Spirt to work in us and through us. Our prayers help us to persevere and receive the promises of His Word. In Matthew 21:21-22 (NASB), Jesus said, “ Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen. And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. ” Our prayers can chan...

Beware of the Snare

Image
The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in and puts his confidence in the LORD will be exalted and safe. — Proverbs 29:25  (AMP) Giving more weight to what people say or think about us, than we give to the Word of God, is a snare: a trap or a pitfall. The Message Bibles says, “The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that.” (Proverbs 29:25 ) As long as we are more concerned with what people say, than what God says, we will be disabled from fulfilling God’s purpose and plan for our lives. Close your ear to the opinion of people and keep your ear open to the voice of God. His Word will build you up and strengthen you. Trust Him and keep your confidence in Him always. For this is contained in Scripture: “Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone, and he who believes in Him will not be disappointed.” (1 Peter 2:6 NASB)

Boast in His Name

Image
Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God. — Psalm 20:7 (NASB) If you are going to boast about anything, boast in the name of the LORD. Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:8) His name is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10) Trust in the mighty name of the LORD, our God. Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) O God, we give glory to you all day long and constantly praise your name. Interlude (Psalm 44:8 NLT) I don’t want to hear any of you bragging about yourself or anyone else. Everything is already yours as a gift—Paul, Apollos, Peter, the world, life, death, the present, the future—all of it is yours, and you are privileged to be in union with Christ, who is in union with God. (1 Corinthians 3:21-23 MSG)

Trust in the Name

Image
“Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely upon his God.” — Isaiah 50:10 (NKJV) In times of darkness and confusion, put your trust in the name of the LORD. Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:8) David confronted his enemy, Goliath, in the name of the LORD of hosts (1 Samuel 17:45) and experienced a great victory for God’s people. Whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved (Joel 2:32). He gives light to those who sit in darkness. The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10 NKJV) God’s name is a place of protection. (Proverbs 18:10a MSG)  Let us trust in the mighty name of the LORD and rely upon our God. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20:7)
