Keep Silent

Image
Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in Judean, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria. Thus says the king, ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you from his hand; and do not let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.” — 2 Kings 18:28-30 (LSB) But the people kept silent and did not answer him, for the king had commanded, “Do not answer him.” (2 Kings 18:36 AMP) When the enemy throws fiery darts of threats and insults your way, hold your peace. Sometimes, the best approach is to remain silent. Instead of conversing with the enemy, take it to God. Ecclesiastes 3:7 says: there is a time to be silent and a time to speak. Remain silent and listen for the still small voice of the LORD. The Word of God carries more weight than any other voice. In response to the king of Assyria’s threats, Hezekiah sought the LORD in prayer...

Seek & Trust Yahweh

“You can be sure of this: The LORD set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him. Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the LORD.” — Psalms 4:3-5 (NLT) Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT) Seek the LORD [search diligently for Him and regard Him as the foremost necessity of your life], all you humble of the land who have practiced His ordinances and have kept His commandments; Seek righteousness, seek humility [regard them as vital]. Perhaps you will be hidden [and pardoned and rescued] in the day of the LORD’s anger. (Zephaniah 2:3 AMP) ...you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. ...

Stop & See

Image
“ Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth. ” — Psalm 46:10 (TPT) Surrender to God your thoughts, your will and your emotions. Present your body to Him as a living and holy sacrifice (Romans 12:1). Be still and silent before Him. Know, recognize, and understand that He is the Most High God. He comforts us in all our troubles and affliction (2 Corinthians 1:4). When others abandon us, He is our constant Companion. He strengthens us when we are weary. He takes our brokenness and makes us whole. In times of doubt and confusion, He brings clarity and gives direction. He reveals destiny and purpose. He is the Light of the world. Everyone who believes in Jesus will not remain in darkness (John 12:46). He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases. (Psalm 103:3) He redeems our lives from the pit (Psalm 103:4). He reveals truth and sets the captives f...

God Above All

Image
Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth. — Psalm 46:10 (TPT) O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! (Psalm 8:1 (NASB) The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe. (Proverbs 18:10 NASB) Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the LORD, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other. — Deuteronomy 4:39 (NASB)

Stand Still & Silent

Image
I am standing in absolute stillness, silent before the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for him to rescue me. Only God is my Savior, and he will not fail me. — Psalm 62:5 (TPT) I stand silently to listen for the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for the Lord to rescue me. For God alone has become my Savior. He alone is my safe place; his wrap-around presence always protects me. For he is my champion defender; there’s no risk of failure with God. So why would I let worry paralyze me, even when troubles multiply around me? (Psalm 62:1-2 TPT) For God alone my soul waits in silence and quietly submits to Him, for my hope is from Him. (Psalm 62:5 AMP) Stand strong and still in full expectation that our heavenly Father will fulfill every promise He has made.

Speak or be Silent?

Image
There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—  ....a time to be silent and a time to speak. — Ecclesiastes 3:1, 3:7b (NASB) Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. We have to discern when to speak and when to be silent. In Mark 15:2 (NKJV), Pilate asked Jesus, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered and said to him, “It is as you say.” Then in Mark 15:3 when the chief priests accused Him of many things, Jesus answered nothing. In Mark 15:4-5, they testified many things against Him, but Jesus still answered nothing. The only question Jesus gave validity to was about Him being King. Jesus did not defend Himself regarding false accusations. People may accuse you and testify against you, but hold your peace and let God fight your battles. Our God is King of kings and Lord of lords. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. (Psalm 37:6 NLT) My soul, wai...

Speak Out

Image
Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us there is a time for everything. There is a time to be quiet and a time to speak. — Ecclesiastes 3:7b (NLT) One day as I listened to the chirping of birds, I was amazed that God gave each type of bird a different sound. Just as the birds have a unique sound, He has given to each one of us a unique voice, not to duplicate someone else. Just as John was the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, we are to lift our voice and carry the message He has engraved on our hearts to others. Let us speak words of life that draw others to our heavenly Father and Christ, our Savior. Who needs to hear your voice today? Don’t remain silent, when God has called you to speak out. Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square. (Proverbs 1:20 NLT)

How Much Longer will You Waver?

Image
Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent. — 1 Kings 18:21 (NLT) Our God is so gracious, He gives us the freedom to make choices. He sets before us life and death, blessing and cursing; Then He gives us the right answer and says “choose life, that both you and your descendants may live,” (Deuteronomy 30:19). At any given moment, we can choose to follow God, our flesh, the world, or the devil. When it comes to making choices, don’t remain speechless. We believe, therefore we speak (2 Corinthians 4:13), and we follow through with the corresponding actions. Stop hobbling and being double-minded. Stand up straight and firm. Let every decision you make be, to follow God on the path of life, not just for you, but for the next generation.

A Quiet Strength

Image
For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning [to Me] and resting [in Me] you shall be saved; in quietness and in [trusting] confidence shall be your strength. — Isaiah 30:15  (AMP) There is an appropriate time for everything. There is a right time to shut up and another to speak up (Ecclesiastes 3:7 MSG). Instead of worrying and fretting and letting words escape from your mouth that don’t line up with the Word of God, just maintain a silent confidence in the LORD. Know without a shadow of doubt, that our God is able. His abundance will make up for your lack. His love and healing power will compensate for your brokenness. He is higher, greater and above anything we encounter on this earth. You can be strong by being quiet and by trusting Him (Isaiah 30:15 GW).

Do Not be Silent!

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. LORD my God, I will praise you forever.  — Psalm 30:11-12 (NIV) Weeping may last for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). If we don't have anything else, we can always rejoice about our salvation. We are saved! The devil can't touch this. Psalm 51:12 says, “ Restore to me the joy of Your salvation .” Give thanks to the LORD and sing praises to Him forever!

Oh, That You Would Be Silent!

Oh, that you would be silent, and it would be your wisdom!  — Job 13:5 (NKJV) Ecclesiastes 3:7 reminds us that there is a time to be silent and a time to speak. Sometimes silence is golden. When Job's friends learned of his troubles, they sat down with him on the ground seven days and seven nights, and no one spoke a word to him, for they saw that his grief was very great (Job 2:13). Wisdom is not only speaking the right word, but also speaking at the right time. A word spoken in due season, how good it is! (Proverbs 15:23)
