Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. — Romans 12:11-12 (MSG) The best way to stay full of His Spirit and on fire for the LORD, is to keep a constant connection with Him throughout your day, through prayer, praising and the giving of thanks. Let the difficulties and challenges draw you closer to Him. Look to our great God in cheerful expectation of the deliverance He will bring about in your life. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person is powerful and produces wonderful results. Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving. (Colossians 4:2 AMP)

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.  — Proverbs 16:16 (NKJV) Choose to get understanding rather than material gains or possessions. No earthly riches compare to understanding. Let us seek first to understand, then to be understood (7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey). He who keeps understanding shall prosper and find good (Proverbs 19:8b AMP). Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Good understanding gains favor, (Proverbs 13:15a NKJV). Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it (Proverbs 16:22 NKJV).

Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. Psalm 90:12 (NLT) The length of our days are a mere handbreadth before the LORD. Psalm 39:11 says, every man at his best state is a vapor. James 4:14 says, we are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Being mindful of the brevity of life, may we grow in wisdom and set the right priorities in life. Never let the big, important stuff be at the mercy of the small, insignificant things. He does not abandon the works of His hand. The Apostle Paul said you can be confident that, "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Philippians 1:6).
