Over & Out

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. — Matthew 6:9-10 (NKJV) When we submit and surrender to the Lord’s will, we can be confident that He will show us the way over every mountain and the way out of any storm. He will lead us and guide us along the best pathway, to the abundant life. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”   (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)

Eyes of Compassion

Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” — John 1:48 (NKJV) Just as Jesus saw Nathanael under the fig tree, He sees you, no matter what you are under today. Whether you are trying to hide, or whether you are feeling the crushing weight of that thing hanging over you and you want to escape, He sees you! And He looks upon you, with eyes of compassion, not condemnation. When God is not even on our radar, His heart is to pursue us and invite us to come to Him. No conditions, just come. He loves us right where we are. In John 1:49, Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Nathanael was amazed to know that Jesus saw and knew him. What is your response to knowing that Jesus, the King of kings, sees and knows you, and more than that —He cares about you?

Over the Flood

The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.  — Psalm 29:10 (NIV) No matter what storms come, our everlasting God is greater and bigger. He is above any trial, trouble or natural disaster that comes into our lives. In Isaiah 43:2 (NLT) God says, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” Our heavenly Father is with us through it all and He will outlast all of the temporary circumstances of this world. My prayers go out to the families who have endured the fury of hurricane Isaac. May they know the LORD, that He is with them and that He is Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. Amen.
