Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour. — 1 Peter 5:8 (AMP) Be alert at all times. In Revelation 12:17, the devil declared war with those who keep the commandments of God and hold fast to the testimony of Jesus. Our enemy does not take breaks and he doesn't go on vacation. He continually prowls around, seeking someone to devour. Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong, vigorous faith. For you know that your believing brothers and sisters around the world are experiencing the same kinds of troubles you endure. (1 Peter 5:9 TPT)

He who pays attention to the word [of God] will find good, and blessed (happy, prosperous, to be admired) is he who trusts [confidently] in the LORD. — Proverbs 16:20 (AMP) We find good when we give attention to God’s Word, daily and not just on Sunday morning. The Word of God is Good News (you can use). For every word God speaks is sure and every promise pure. His truth is tested, found to be flawless, and ever faithful. It’s as pure as silver refined seven times in a crucible of clay. (Psalm 12:6 TPT) You can trust our faithful God to fulfill every Word He has spoken. Not reading and applying the Word of God, on a daily basis, places you in a battle with no weapon. We are in a war and the devil takes no vacations. He roams about the earth seeking whom he may devour. Even Jesus overcame the the temptation of the devil by stating the Word: “ It is written… ” (Matthew 4:4, 6, 7 &10)

My friends, we are not those who give up hope and so are lost; but we are of the company who live by faith and so are saved. — Hebrews 10:39 (VOICE) … we are certainly not those who are held back by fear and perish; we are among those who have faith and experience true life! — Hebrews 10:39 (TPT) Why quit? Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. — 1 Peter 4:12 (NLT) Don’t be caught off guard when troubles come your way. We have an enemy who has declared war on us (Revelation 12:17). He is a liar and only wants to steal, kill and destroy. (John 10:10a) However, the One in us is mightier than he who is in the world. Our God is greater! Troubles come and go, but our heavenly Father remains forever. The Message Bible says: The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever. (2 Corinthians 4:18) This light momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison... (2 Corinthians 4:17) Jesus endured the cross for the joy that was set before Him. (Hebrews 12:2) Let us keep an eternal perspective, in all circumstances.

And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind… — Romans 12:2a (AMP) First Timothy 6:12 encourages followers of Christ to fight the good fight of faith. Realize that we are in a war, but always remember that Jesus has already given us the victory. So let us actively use the weapons we have been given. Take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; (Ephesians 6:17). The helmet protects our heads from the lies of the enemy and the Word is full of power and very effective. In order to fight the good fight of faith, we must continually renew our minds with the Word of God AND speak it out of our mouths. As we do, it exposes the darkness around us, to His marvelous light. The sword of the Spirit, destroys bondages and strongholds of the enemy. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; — Ephesian 6:17 (NKJK) We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12 NLT) Let us fight this spiritual war by using the sword of the Spirit, that is standing on God’s Word. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 NASB) Even Jesus overcame the devil's temptation by saying: “ It is written... ” (Matthew 4:4, 4:7, 4:10) May we follow His example.

War broke out in Heaven. Michael and his Angels fought the Dragon. The Dragon and his Angels fought back, but were no match for Michael. They were cleared out of Heaven, not a sign of them left. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. (James 4:7-8)

“If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.” — Isaiah 7:9 (NIV) When their enemies came to make war against the people of Jerusalem, God sent His prophet to King Ahaz. Isaiah said to him, “Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid. Do not lose heart…” (Isaiah 7:4) This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “ It will not take place, it will not happen …” (Isaiah 7:7). When the enemy threatens destruction, be careful about the words you speak, keep calm and don’t let fear grip you. Remember that the lies and threats of the enemy cannot prevail over you. God has given us authority on the earth. Stand firm in your faith. Believe that God is able to deliver you. Believe that He is willing. Believe that He will do exactly as He has said. God cannot lie. (Titus 1:2)

As for me, I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me… — Psalm 55:16-18a (NKJV) God has called us to peace in the midst of war. Inquire of Him in every battle. He has all your days written in His book and He knows the best way for you to go. Staying on the course He has for you leads to success and victory. Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22 NKJV)

But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” — Matthew 4:4 (NKJV) When Jesus was tempted by the devil, He responded with the Word of God and overcame the devil. (Mathew 4:4,7 & 10). Satan makes war with believers (Revelation 12:17) and he is constantly prowling about seeking whom he may devour. He only comes to steal, kill, and to destroy. (John 10:10). When he throws fiery darts at you, use the Word of God to combat his lies. A good soldier never goes into battle without his weapons, but how often does the devil catch us in battle and not wielding our weapon? The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17), that allows us to triumph over our enemy. Speak the Word and continually hold up the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (Ephesians 6:16)

As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9 NLT)

All those prayers are coming together now so you will do this well, fearless in your struggle, keeping a firm grip on your faith and on yourself. After all, this is a fight we’re in. There are some, you know, who by relaxing their grip and thinking anything goes have made a thorough mess of their faith. — 1 Timothy 1:18-19 (MSG) Remember, we are engaged in a war. We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil.Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. (Ephesians 6:12-13, NLT). Fight the good fight, finish the race, keep the faith. (2 Timothy 4:7)

For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.  — Romans 5:17 (NKJV) In Christ we have an abundance of grace and mercy. Because of all that Jesus Christ did for us, we can reign in life. Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come your way. Every war has its battles. In order to be victorious, there has to be a battle. But the battle is not ours, it belongs to the LORD.  Whatever the enemy has stolen from you, pursue, overtake and recover all! In Christ, we are to be the head, not the tail. We shall be above only and not beneath, as we walk with Him. (Deuteronomy 28:13). “There is the sound of war in the camp.” — Exodus 32:17 (NIV) Wake up! We are in a war. Every day we are in the midst of a battle. In Revelation 12:17, the devil declared war with the woman and the rest of her offspring, those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Let us be good soldiers. Good soldiers stay focused on the mission of the Commanding Officer. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier (2 Timothy 2:4). Good soldiers do not quit in the middle of the battle. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ (2 Timothy 2:3). Get your boots on the ground and stay engaged in the good fight of faith. The PRICE is the war that must be fought, but the PRIZE is the wedding to come (Revelation 21:1-4). March on good soldiers, with your eyes on the prize!
