Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! The terrible storm raged for many days, blotting out the sun and the stars, until at last all hope was gone. — Acts 27:20 (NLT) The 275 people (See Acts 27:37) on the ship with the Apostle Paul abandoned all hope in the midst of a raging storm. However, an angel of God came to the Apostle Paul, and said, ‘ Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you .’ (See Acts 27:24) In turn, Paul was able to encourage those on the ship with him. In Acts 27:25, he said: “So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said.” Even though the ship was destroyed, they all were brought safely to land. (See Acts 27:44) You may suffer loss, but never lose hope. In the midst of the storms, always believe the Word of God. God is good and His Word does not return to Him void. Let us be the voice of encouragement to those around us who are without hope. Amen.

“ You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. ” — Matthew 5:14-16 (NLT) As followers of Christ, we are to be light and shine out. We are not to hide in the corner or in a closet. Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. (Philippians 2:14-15 NLT). As the Amplified Bible says, we live in the midst of a morally crooked and spiritually perverted generation, but we are to be seen as bright lights, beacons that shine out clearly in the world of darkness. May we be that city set on a hill, that the lost can come to and be healed and restored.
