The Shelter of His Wings

Image
Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah  — Psalms 61:1-4 (NKJV) Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by. (Psalms 57:1 NKJV) How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. (Psalms 36:7) Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. (Psalms 63:7 NKJV)

Learn to Rely on God

Image
“ We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. ” — 2 Corinthians 1:8-10 (NLT) As a result of our challenges and troubles, may we learn to trust solely in Yahweh. He will not only rescue us from all of our troubles, He will comfort us and strengthen us in the midst of them as well. “We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NLT) For a righteous man may fall se...

He will bring you through the darkness, into the light of day. When you are burdened excessively, don't despair. Cast all your cares on our heavenly Father, Who cares for you. And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called ...

Don't Give Up

Image
“Brothers and sisters, you need to know about the severe trials we experienced… All of the hardships we passed through crushed us beyond our ability to endure, and we were so completely overwhelmed that we were about to give up entirely. It felt like we had a death sentence written upon our hearts, and we still feel it to this day. It has taught us to lose all faith in ourselves and to place all of our trust in the God who raises the dead.” — 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (TPT) When you are burdened excessively and overwhelmed, do not give up. When you come to the end of what you can do, give it to God. Place all of your trust in Yahweh, who is able to bring the dead back to life. Our sufficiency is from God. (See 2 Corinthians 3:5 NKJV) We may be pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not completely crushed by them. We may be perplexed at times, but we do not have to give in to despair. We know that God knows what to do. We may be hunted down, but we are never abandoned by God. We may g...

(2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NLT) No matter what troubles and trials come our way, may we learn to rely only on Elohim, the all-powerful One, Creator of the universe. He has the power to bring the dead back to life. He rescued us from so great a threat of death, and will continue to rescue us. On Him we have set our hope. And He will again rescue us [from danger and draw us near], (2 Corinthians 1:10 AMP)

Higher than I

Image
From the end of the earth I call to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and weak; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I [a rock that is too high to reach without Your help]. For You have been a shelter and a refuge for me, a strong tower against the enemy. Let me dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah. — Psalm 61:2-4 (AMP) Know that He alone, whose name is the LORD, is the Most High over all the earth. (See Psalm 83:18 NASB1995) He called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. (See 1 Peter 2:9) This call is from a lower place to a much higher place, and from a dark place to a place full of His marvelous light and amazing love. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than our thoughts. (See Isaiah 55:9 AMP) He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. (See Psalm 18:16 NLT) In the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the ...

From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help  when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings! Interlude — Psalm 61:2-4 (NLT) …our true help and protection come only from the Lord, our Creator who made the heavens and the earth. He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall. God is my keeper; he will never forget nor ignore me. (Psalm 121:2-4 TPT) Wherever we are, we can call on the LORD. His ear is always open to hear our cry. Those who are righteous do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. (Psalm 112:7-8) “ Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. He Comes to the Rescue

Lead me to the Rock!

Image
From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy. Let me dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah. — Psalm 61:2-4 (NASB) When we are overwhelmed by life’s challenges, let us be led to the Rock. His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) No one is holy like the LORD! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God. (1 Samuel 2:2 NLT) For the Lord our God, in our midst, is a great and awesome God. If God is for us, who can ever be against us? (Romans 8:31) As for me, I trust [confidently] in You and Your greatness, O LORD; I said, “You are my God.” (Psalm 31:14 AMP) “…guide me into your glory, where I am safe and sheltered. Lord, you are a paradise of protection to me.” — Psalm 61:2b-3a (TPT)

Confidently Trust the LORD

Image
Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the LORD to care for them. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly . — Psalm 112:6-8 (NLT) We were designed to need the LORD, each moment of the day. If you are overwhelmed with life events, you are probably trying to do it on your own. Cast all your cares on the LORD, because He cares for you. And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 NASB) ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ — Isaiah 41:10 (NASB)

He’ll Help You Out

Image
Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin. — Psalm 55:22 (MSG) In 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NLT), the Apostle Paul tells us about the trouble they went through in the province of Asia. He says, “ we think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters… We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead .” If you are facing a difficult situation, stop relying on yourself and learn to rely ONLY on God. Cast all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully]. ( 1 Peter 5:7 AMP )

Depend on God

Image
Depend on God and keep at it because in the LORD God you have a sure thing. — Isaiah 26:4 (MSG) The troubles the Apostle Paul experienced taught him to depend on God. In 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NLT) he says,   We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. Let us depend on God no matter how our current circumstances appear. “ Trust [confidently] in the LORD forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], for the LORD God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]. ”  —Isaiah 26:4 (AMP)

Ponder His Great Works

Image
Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands. — Psalm 143:4-5 (NKJV) When life is overwhelming and you are losing all hope, ponder all His great works and think about the awesome things the LORD has done. When you are paralyzed with fear, meditate on His unfailing love. His perfect love drives out all fear (1 John 4:18). When you are in despair and your heart is heavy, stretch out your hands to our heavenly Father. Morning, noon, and night cry out to the LORD and He will hear your voice. (Psalm 55:17 NLT) I remembered the old days, went over all you’ve done, pondered the ways you’ve worked, stretched out my hands to you, as thirsty for you as a desert thirsty for rain. (Psalm 143:5-6 MSG)

Higher than I

From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. — Psalm 61:2 (NKJV) When your heart is overwhelmed, cry out to the LORD for help. (Psalm 78:35) He will make your feet like the feet of deer, and set you on your high places (Psalm 18:33). He will place you above any earthly circumstances. Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I!

But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. — 2 Corinthians 1:8-9 (NLT) Whenever you go through troubles of any kind, do not lean on your own strength and knowledge, but rely on God and His power that is at work in you. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead. When you are burdened beyond measure, draw strength from the LORD and totally trust God to carry your load. When all seems lost, put your hope in the LORD and you will not be disappointed. As it turned out, it was the best thing that could have happened. Instead of trusting in our own strength or wits to get out of it, we were forced to trust God totally —not a bad idea since he’s the God who ra...

I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah — Psalm 61:2-4 (NKJV) Our heavenly Father dwells in a higher place. His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts. He is higher than any mountain that stands before us. When we take refuge in the shelter of His wings, we rise above the circumstances of this world. Dwell in the secret place of the Most High. He is our shelter from the enemy. It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places. ( Psalm 18:32-33 NKJV )

Not Destroyed!

Image
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— — 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NKJV) In 2 Corinthians 1:8-9, the Apostle Paul spoke of the troubles they experienced. He says, they were crushed and overwhelmed beyond their ability to endure, and thought they would never live through it. In fact, he says, they expected to die. But as a result, they stopped relying on themselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. When troubles press in on us from every side, may we learn to rely on God. Keep things in the proper perspective. With all that has come against us, we are not destroyed. Praise God that we are still alive and we can always count on Him to bring us through whatever comes our way!

Fix Your Eyes on God

Image
Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God— soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God. — Psalm 42:5 (MSG) When we feel depressed and overwhelmed, we have taken our eyes off of God and His promises and fixed them on our problems. However, the LORD’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love. (Psalm 147:11 NLT). Fix your eyes on God and He will lift you out of the pit of despair and set your feet on solid ground. The LORD is our helper. May your hope rest on His unfailing love.
