Our First Love

Image
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. — 1 John 2:15-16 (NLT) Don’t dilute your love for the Father, by setting the affections of your heart on this world. Listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. “ I know you are patiently enduring and holding firm on behalf of My name. You have not become faint. However, I have this against you: you have abandoned your first love. ” (Revelation 2:3-4 VOICE) If you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, setting your desires and affections on the heavenly things, not on earthly things, which have only temporal value. A Rich Resource

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” — Matthew 6:19-21 (NASB) Our security is not found in our possessions, but in His Presence. The richest resource we have is the presence of Almighty God dwelling in us. For in Him we live and move and have our being… (Acts 17:28 NKJV). In His Presence, we have fullness of joy, everlasting peace and a wealth of wisdom. Treasure His Presence above all else. In His Presence is protection and provision of all that we need. Any investment into His kingdom is one that will pay back full dividends.

Continually with Him!

Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. — Psalm 73:23-24 (NKJV) The word, “nevertheless” speaks volumes. It says, in spite of anything and everything that comes our way, come hell or high water, we are still with the Lord. All our earthly possessions can be destroyed by fire or flood waters, but nothing can disrupt the wonderful relationship we have with our heavenly Father. Always seek to develop a deeper level of intimacy with Him. It is good for us to draw near to the Lord GOD for we are continually with Him.
