Manna for Your Morning

Distractions often draw us away from our heavenly Father, out of His Word, and down some dark alley or dead-end road that results in sin, death and destruction. Genesis 3:6 says: Eve saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes… Judges 14:1 (NLT) says: One day when Samson was in Timnah, one of the Philistine women caught his eye. And in 2 Samuel 11:2, as King David was walking on the roof of the palace, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. Pour out your petitions to Him and wait expectantly for His answer. Our mighty God is able. He will establish and strengthen you. In Isaiah 41:10 (AMP), the LORD says: ’Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation].’  May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be strengthened and spiritually energized with power through His Spirit in your inner self, [indwelling your innermost being and personality] ...

He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. — Isaiah 40:29-31 (NLT) When King David was down and out, he found strength in the LORD his God. (See 1 Samuel 30:6) We find new strength as we trust in YAHWEH, not in our own human abilities. Let us do what the LORD told Gideon in Judges 6:14, go with the strength we have. Then trust Him to fill in for what is lacking. The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. — Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)   We guard our hearts by controlling the thoughts we allow to fill our minds. If we infiltrate our minds with constant negative news our hearts will be full of anger, hatred and fear. Let us renew our minds according to the Word of God. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. (See Romans 12:2 and Joshua 1:8) See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled; (Hebrews 12:15 NASB) Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. (Ephesians 4:31 NLT) Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. — Romans 12:19 (NASB)

“What strength do I have left, that I should wait [and hope]? And what is ahead of me, that I should be patient and endure?” — Job 6:11 (AMP) When despair comes knocking on your door, don’t answer. Keep your hope and faith in God and in His wonderful Word. …those who wait for the LORD [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired. (Isaiah 40:31 AMP) Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. — Psalm 27:14 (NLT)

But those who wait for the LORD [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power; They will lift up their wings [and rise up close to God] like eagles [rising toward the sun]; They will run and not become weary, they will walk and not grow tired. — Isaiah 40:31 (AMP) We gain new strength as we put our hope and expectation in God and stay close to Him. Trying to force situations to go a certain way in the strength of our flesh leads to frustration, weariness and disappointment. Pray and ask God to reveal His will. As we wait on the LORD for His direction, He gives us new strength to continue on, in spite of the challenges we face. As we wait for the LORD to give us the insight, to provide the answer, and to show us the way, we will run and not become weary and we will walk and not grow tired.

Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the earth. — Hosea 6:3 (NKJV) The Amplified Bible says: “… let us press on to know and understand fully the [greatness of the] LORD [to honor, heed, and deeply cherish Him]. ” When we are on a continual pursuit to know the LORD, He will come to us like the rain. The rain falls to the earth and replenishes it. When there is no rain, we experience a drought, things dry up and die. The ground becomes hard. But when the rain comes, things are refreshed and grow. When we pursue God, we will experience times of refreshing and growth. He will pour out His Spirit and restore and renew us. Hardened hearts will become soft and tender, allowing His love to flow through. Fall upon us O’LORD!

It’s a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God (Lamentations 3:25-26 MSG). He satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle. (Psalm 103:5 AMP) Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! (Psalm 27:14 NKJV)

Instead of reading your horoscope, seek the One who has all your days recorded in His Book. Study God’s Word and rely on Him to give the answer and direction you seek. Before you call the doctor, go to the Great Physician, by His stripes, we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5). Before you phone a friend, get on the line with Jesus, our constant Companion. As we continually rely and depend on our Creator, we will gain new strength and rise up closer to Him.

Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. — Joshua 1:8 (NLT) To meditate on God’s Word means to give it careful, and deep thought. It involves a focus of one’s mind, for a period of time. My husband is the skilled cook in our home and there is a big difference in the flavor of the meat when he lets it soak in the marinade overnight versus a few minutes. Likewise, as we spend time in God’s Word (the marinade), it changes the flavor of our hearts and minds and in turn influences our actions. We can only enjoy the depth and richness of His Word as we spend time turning it over in our minds. We change the way we think by renewing our minds with the Word of God. Take time to meditate on the Word, treasure it in your heart and enjoy success in all that you do.

…for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]   — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (AMP) As we consistently renew our minds with the Word of God, our thoughts will line up with all of God’s wonderful promises. Our speech and our actions will also agree with His Word. When the world or our enemy gives us a negative report, we slice it up with our sword (The Word). As men and women of faith, may we confidently believe all of God’s promises because He is faithful to fulfill every one of them. It’s what we trust in but don’t yet see that keeps us going. (2 Corinthians 5:7 MSG)  Jesus said, “ If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes. ” (Mark 9:23)

O LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide when I am in trouble? — Psalm 10:1 (NLT) When we are in the midst of troubles, the enemy would have us believe that the LORD is no where around, but do not believe his lies. When we are overcome with life's difficulties, it is the LORD, who carries us through them. During the Israelites 40 years in the desert, they often felt abandoned, but the LORD provided everything they needed and brought them safely to the promised land. When you are overwhelmed with all that life brings your way, rest in the arms of the LORD and He shall renew your strength and carry you through.

But now, O LORD, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand. — Isaiah 64:8 (NKJV) Our heavenly Father does the molding, but we need to stay on His wheel. Let us present ourselves to Him, moment by moment, as living sacrifices. Lay your heart on His altar and let Him soften it and shape it to be more like His. Allow the touch of His loving hands to set it on fire. Renew your mind according to His Word. As the clay is in the potter’s hand, may we also be in the hand of the Master.

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. — Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV) As a person thinks in their heart so is he. Where our minds go, we tend to follow. That's why it is so important for us to renew our minds according to the Word of God (Romans 12:2). What we think about most tends to be what we talk about and our words usually lead to our actions. We can think happy, hopeful thoughts, speak words of hope and joy and we will tend to do things that create joy in our atmosphere.

But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.  — Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) Do not become weary and discouraged while doing good. Wait with your hope anchored in the LORD and you will find new strength. He awakened you this morning, with a purpose and a plan for your life. Spread your wings and soar like an eagle toward all that God has given you to do and be!

I will sing to the  LORD  throughout my life. I will make music to praise my God as long as I live. May my thoughts be pleasing to him. I will find joy in the LORD.  — Psalm 104:33-34 (GW) Let us sing to the LORD and praise our God as long as we have the breath of life. As we meditate on His Word and renew our minds, our thoughts will be pleasing to our heavenly Father. He fills us with joy in His presence (Psalm 16:11). May we rejoice in the Lord always!

So change the way you think and act, and turn to God to have your sins removed. Then times will come when the Lord will refresh you. He will send you Jesus, whom he has appointed to be the Christ. — Acts 3:19-20 (GW) If our thoughts and actions don't line up with God's ways, let us change the way we think and act. We are not to think according to the world or the way our flesh thinks. The behavior of a believer should be different also. Let us renew our minds with the Word, so we can think and act like our heavenly Father. Then we will experience times of refreshing from the Lord. Amen.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. — Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) Keep your hope in the LORD and your strength will be renewed. You will soar on wings like eagles. Eagles are strong and powerful and they fly above the storms. Spread your wings and soar high like an eagle, above the circumstances of your life. As long as you keep your hope in the LORD you will not grow weary or faint.
