“And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; And to depart from evil is understanding.’” — Job 28:28 (NASB1995) Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Buy truth, and do not sell it, get wisdom and instruction and understanding. — Proverbs 23:23 (NASB) Lady Wisdom goes out in the street and shouts. At the town center she makes her speech. In the middle of the traffic she takes her stand. At the busiest corner she calls out: (Proverbs 1:20-21 MSG) Listen and be wise. Direct your heart in the way of the LORD. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; — James 1:19 (AMP) Be quick to hear. Take the time to listen and get understanding. And when you do speak, do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen (Ephesians 4:29 NIV). The tongue of the wise promotes health. (Proverbs 12:18b NKJV). May we choose our words carefully. Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose. (Proverbs 18:21 MSG)

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.  — Proverbs 16:16 (NKJV) Choose to get understanding rather than material gains or possessions. No earthly riches compare to understanding. Let us seek first to understand, then to be understood (7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen R. Covey). He who keeps understanding shall prosper and find good (Proverbs 19:8b AMP). Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Good understanding gains favor, (Proverbs 13:15a NKJV). Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it (Proverbs 16:22 NKJV).
