Respond to God's Giving

Then, turning to his disciples, Jesus said, “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food to eat or enough clothes to wear.” — Luke 12:22 (NLT) “What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep yourself in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.” (Luke 12:29-31 MSG) “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. (Luke 12:32 NKJV). For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, (Romans 14:17 NIV).  What God is doing in our lives and on this earth (advancing His kingdom) is the only reality we need to be concerned about. He provides all we need.

What Are You Mindful Of?

But He turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” — Matthew 16:23 (NKJV) The LORD has been mindful of us (Psalm 115:12). What thoughts do we fill our minds with? The mind occupied with merely human concerns has a self-centered focus: what “I” want and what “I” need. The mind filled with the things of God focuses on the Kingdom of God. Those mindful of the things of God, have a heart for God and are able to see things the way God sees them, not merely from a human point of view. When our minds are full of God thoughts, we allow His Spirit to lead us and we are able to walk in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Heavenly Father, may we fill our minds with thoughts of You. Where the mind goes, the man will follow.
