Remember [what happened to] Lot’s wife [when she looked back]! — Luke 17:32 (AMP) When Lot and his family were being rescued from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot’s wife looked back, after being warned by the angels not to look back. They were told to escape to the mountains, or they would be swept away. But his wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt. (See Genesis 19:15-17,19:26) Don’t look back on that low, valley living with regret, or longing. Let go of any anger and bitterness from past wrongs. In Isaiah 42:9 (AMP), the LORD says: “ Indeed, the former things have come to pass, now I declare new things; Before they spring forth I proclaim them to you. ” Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Be Present

“Forget about what’s happened; don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.” — Isaiah 43:19 (MSG) Let us be alert and present to what God is doing today. Jesus warns in Luke 17:32, Remember Lot’s wife! She looked back, and became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). God gives us brand new mercies every morning because He is doing a brand new thing. If we expect God to do things the way He has done them in the past, we are trying to box Him in. Dear brothers and sisters, let’s focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. May we press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (Philippians 3:13-14 NLT).

Don't Look Back!

As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”  — Genesis 19:17 (NIV) After being warned by an angel, Lot’s wife chose to look back, and she became a pillar of salt (Genesis 19:26). God gave us free will. We always have a choice. Like Lot's wife, we can chose disobedience and death or we can choose to give up our old ways and follow the LORD's instruction. His ways lead to a rich and satisfying life, full of His blessings and favor. Our heavenly Father, like any good parent, gives us instructions for our own good and our protection. He is not out to get us. He loves us and is on our side.
