Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). Though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God… (2 Corinthians 10:3-4 NKJV) Use God’s mighty weapons to break through the barriers that hinder you from building a beautiful and strong bond with our heavenly Father and brothers and sisters in Christ; one of love, trust and faithfulness. We can bring every loose thought and emotion under subjection, as we renew our minds with His Word. Be a bond builder!

He concentrates on carrying out orders (2 Timothy 2:4 MSG). As good soldiers of Jesus Christ, we have received a call: a set of orders. Instead of getting entangled in the affairs of civilian life, and having an unauthorized absence (UA) from our place of duty, let us give our attention to fulfilling the mission the Lord has entrusted to us, that we may please our Commanding Officer. That means we must endure hardship, and stay alert and fully engaged in our God-given orders: assignments that tell us where to go, when to go and what to say.

No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier. — 2 Timothy 2:3-4 (NKJV) How do we endure hardship as a good soldier? We stay focused on the mission, while avoiding distractions and detours. No matter what contrary circumstances appear, we continue to stand on the Word. His Word says, no weapon formed against us shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Romans 8:37 tells us we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. And the word of our God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). Amen!

God has given us powerful weapons for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4, AMP). With these weapons, we are able to cast down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5, NKJV). Fight the good fight of faith and remember: No weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)!

No matter what adversities arise, a good soldier endures hardship. They know all about courage, commitment, strength and sacrifice. Just as military service members, follow the orders of their Commanding Officer, make it your aim to satisfy and please Jesus, the One who enlisted you into His service. Be a good soldier for Jesus Christ! Today we honor and thank military men and women of the past and present, who are serving and have served our country and ensured our freedom. We remember those who have sacrificed to the point of giving their lives. Thank you.

We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8 (NIV) When we are hemmed in on every side, we have to look up to our heavenly Father from whom our help comes. When the world pushes in on us, we need to press in deeper to God, our strong tower and mighty fortress.
