The God of All Comfort

Image
Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts and encourages us in every trouble so that we will be able to comfort and encourage those who are in any kind of trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. — 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (AMP) May we comfort and encourage one another. However, if no one is there to encourage you, be like David. When David and his men returned home from battle they found the city burned with fire, and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. (See 1 Samuel 30:6 NASB1995) David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all the people were embittered, each one because of his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. (1 Samuel 30:6)  In the midst of troubles, encourage yourself in Yahweh. For whatever was written in earlier times was written for ou...

Stop & See

Image
“ Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all the nations, and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth. ” — Psalm 46:10 (TPT) Surrender to God your thoughts, your will and your emotions. Present your body to Him as a living and holy sacrifice (Romans 12:1). Be still and silent before Him. Know, recognize, and understand that He is the Most High God. He comforts us in all our troubles and affliction (2 Corinthians 1:4). When others abandon us, He is our constant Companion. He strengthens us when we are weary. He takes our brokenness and makes us whole. In times of doubt and confusion, He brings clarity and gives direction. He reveals destiny and purpose. He is the Light of the world. Everyone who believes in Jesus will not remain in darkness (John 12:46). He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases. (Psalm 103:3) He redeems our lives from the pit (Psalm 103:4). He reveals truth and sets the captives f...

He Rescues!

Image
The LORD is near to the heartbroken and He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin). Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, but the LORD rescues him from them all. — Psalm 34:18-19 (AMP) When we are brokenhearted, we can be sure the LORD is close and He comforts us. And when we face trouble of any kind, we can be certain that He will deliver us. In the midst of perplexing situations, we can fix our gaze upon our Heavenly Father and experience the pleasure of His Presence, and persevere until He gives us direction. Instead of worry, we can worship our great God. ‘ Do not yield to fear, for I am always near. Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand. ’ — Isaiah 41:10 (TPT)

Light Up the World

Image
In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. — John 1:1-4 (NLT) Jesus brings light to everyone. He receives everyone who comes to Him. If you open the door of your heart to Him, He enters. He comforts the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1). He brings Good News to the poor (Luke 4:18). He sets the captives free. In John 8:12, Jesus said, “ I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. ” Let us live in His light. As we abide in His light, sadness is turned to joy and we experience everlasting peace. In Matthew 5:14, Jesus tells believers: “ You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden .” Don’t try to hide the light of the Lord within you. Let it shine! ...

The God of all Comfort

Image
“I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid of a man who will die, and of the son of a man who will be made like grass? And you forget the LORD your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth; — Isaiah 51:12-13a (NKJV) The LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and strengthen your bones; you shall be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. (Isaiah 58:11 NKJV) When doubts fill your mind, His comfort will give you renewed hope and cheer. (Psalm 94:19 NLT) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles… (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV)

God is on the Throne

Image
In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul. — Psalm 94:19 (NKJV) Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression (Proverbs 12:25a). So when you are experiencing a multitude of anxieties, cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7 NASB). He will comfort your soul. When you are upset and beside yourself, He will calm you down and cheer you up. (Psalm 94:19 MSG) No need to be anxious when our God is on the throne. He is bigger than any mountain you face. He is higher than any hurdle in front of you. He is more powerful than the storms that come, and He will see you through each one.

There is a Season

Image
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven: — Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV) Seasons come and seasons go. Some are more challenging than others, but our heavenly Father is with us in each and every one. He comforts us and carries us through the difficult seasons. There are seeds of wisdom to be gleaned from each season, that will cause growth and fruitfulness. Each season has meaning and purpose. Take one day at a time, and keep your eyes on our Maker, He knows the plans He has for you, and they are good. This is the day the LORD has made let us rejoice in it, regardless of the season.

Listen to His Voice

Image
Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! — Psalm 95:6-7 (NLT) Of all the voices you hear today, listen to the voice of the LORD. It will be His voice that comforts you in the midst of the storm. His voice will give the direction and wise guidance you need. When others reject you, it's His voice that calls you to come near to Him. In Isaiah 55:3 He says, “Incline your ear, and come to Me. Hear, and your soul shall live... ” He who has ears to hear, let him hear! (Matthew 11:15)

His Reassuring Presence

Image
I look behind me and you’re there, then up ahead and you’re there, too— your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful— I can’t take it all in! — Psalm 139:5-6 (MSG) Psalm 139:7 (NKJV) asks: “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” Even the darkness is not dark to Him and conceals nothing from Him. May we never try to hide from God. He knows everything about us and He still loves us and wants the best for us. As a loving Father, He enjoys being close to His sons and daughters. His Presence is with us to reassure us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. (Philippians 4:13 NKJV). His Presence goes with us to help, to lead, to guide, and to protect. His Spirit comforts and refreshes our souls. Enjoy His Presence today.

Receive the Word

Image
These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. — Acts 17:11 (NKJV) May we, like the people of Berea, be open-minded to receive the Word with great eagerness, and examine the Scriptures daily. The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12). The entrance of His Word gives light and understanding (Psalm 119:130). It strengthens us, and comforts us in any affliction. The Word of God gives us life (Psalm 119:50). His Word is settled in heaven and endures to all generations. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105). May we delight ourselves in the Word of God.

New Life!

Image
…God lives forever and is holy. He is high and lifted up. He says, “I live in a high and holy place, but I also live with people who are sad and humble. I give new life to those who are humble and to those whose hearts are broken.”  — Isaiah 57:15 (NCV) Our God is exalted on high and He is also a God who dwells with His people. Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear (Isaiah 59:1 NIV). You are never out of His reach. He gives new life to those who humble themselves under His mighty hand. He restores crushed spirits and revives repentant hearts. “ I, even I, am He who comforts you… ”  Isaiah 51:12 (NKJV)

“Lord, I am coming.”

Image
My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” — Psalm 27:8 (NLT) Everything God does in our lives is to draw us closer to Him. Every challenge He allows strengthens us and makes us more like Him, so we can grow closer to Him and bring others with us; those who can relate to our struggles. God comforts us in all our troubles, so we can comfort those in any trouble with the same comfort God has given us. (2 Corinthians 1:4). Let us embrace each and every moment God gives us, on this earth, and take great delight in His Presence each step of the way. In the fullness of His Presence, we have all that we need. Amen!

Troubled on Every Side?

...when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears. Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, — 2 Corinthians 7:5-6 (NKJV) If you are troubled on every side today, know that in spite of your circumstances, you have the God of all comfort standing by your side. He comforts us in all our tribulation (2 Corinthians 1:4). His perfect love casts out fear, (1 John 4:18). The God of peace will speak peace to any conflict that has been stirred up against you. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday (Psalm 37:6).

Still, God is There Every Time

If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Disciples so often get into trouble; still, God is there every time.  — Psalm 34:18-19 (The Message) If you have received news that hit you like a punch to the gut, please know, God is right there. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed (Psalm 34:18, NLT). He comforts us in all our tribulation. Even when we miss the mark, still, the Father of mercies is right there to help us pick up the pieces and move on, empowered and strengthened.

He Brings Us Joy

When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, LORD, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.  — Psalm 94:18-19 (NIV) The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down (Psalm 145:14). Our heavenly Father comforts our troubled souls and in His presence, there is fullness of joy. May we cling to Him!
