“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;” — Isaiah 61:1 (NKJV) When Yeshua read this Scripture in the synagogue, He said: “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (See Luke 4:16-21) It is done! Yeshua brought the good news to the poor and afflicted. He healed the brokenhearted and set the captives free. He comforts all who mourn, and gives us beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. The LORD is near to the heartbroken and He saves those who are crushed in spirit (contrite in heart, truly sorry for their sin). Many hardships and perplexing circumstances confront the righteous, but the LORD rescues him from them all. — Psalm 34:18-19 (AMP) When we are brokenhearted, we can be sure the LORD is close and He comforts us. And when we face trouble of any kind, we can be certain that He will deliver us. In the midst of perplexing situations, we can fix our gaze upon our Heavenly Father and experience the pleasure of His Presence, and persevere until He gives us direction. Instead of worry, we can worship our great God. ‘ Do not yield to fear, for I am always near. Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand. ’ — Isaiah 41:10 (TPT)

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; — Isaiah 61:1 (NASB) Our heavenly Father sent Jesus to earth with Good News, for all people. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19) We may have many troubles, but the good news is that the LORD comes to the rescue each time. Jesus binds up the wounds of the brokenhearted and brings healing. If the enemy is holding you captive in any area of your life, Jesus has set you free. The doors of the prison are open, and He has pardoned all prisoners. You no longer have to remain bound or confined. He has shined a great light on those who walk in darkness (Isaiah 9:2). Rejoice! “The time of the LORD’s favor has come.” (Luke 4:19 NLT)

But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also. — Matthew 6:33 (AMP) Instead of striving for a perfect set of circumstances or aiming to acquire material possessions, seek Jesus, the perfect One and He will take care of all that concerns you. Seek the One whom the winds and the sea obey (Matthew 8:27). Seek the One who causes the dead to live again (John 11:43-44). He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [healing their pain and comforting their sorrow] (Psalm 147:3 AMP). Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. (1 Chronicles 16:11 NASB)

The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. — Psalm 34:17-18 (NLT) What a wonderful promise in the Word of God! Instead of being worried and distressed, be confident in the Word and trust our heavenly Father, that He is going to bring you through, whatever troubles come your way. …for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]— 2 Corinthians 5:7 (AMP)

Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. — Luke 14:23 (NKJV) Jesus was sent to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He was sent to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come…(Isaiah 61:1-2 NLT). There are many lives yet to be saved. There are many who need to be touched with the love of God. There are so many who need to know He cares. Let us be compelled to share the good news and invite the lost and hurting into God's family.

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;” — Luke 4:18 (NKJV) If you are oppressed, Jesus came to set you free. He proclaims liberty to the captives, healing to those who are brokenhearted. The Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8 NLT). He sets us free from fear, worry, bondage, addictions, etc. You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free (Galatians 5:13 NIV). Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1 NKJV).

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;” — Luke 4:18 (NKJV) Our Heavenly Father sent Jesus to announce release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to send forth as delivered those who are oppressed [who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed, and broken down by calamity] (Luke 4:18 AMP). Today as we celebrate America’s Independence, declare your independence as a disciple of Christ. Announce your fredom from the schemes of the enemy. He no longer has the power to oppress you, unless you give it to him. Celebrate the freedom and victory we have in Christ. Hallelujah!

“...the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” — Matthew 20:28 (NKJV) Jesus was anointed to proclaim good news to the poor. He was sent to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, (Isaiah 61:1). Our Lord and Savior gave His life to fulfill His mission. What are we willing to give to fulfill the call the Father has placed on our lives? May we model after Jesus and live a life of sacrifice, to serve those whom God has placed in our sphere of influence. We never know whose freedom is tied to our obedience, our willingness to answer the call.

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. — Galatians 4:4-5 (NKJV) The fullness of time has already come. Now is the the time of salvation. Now is the time of deliverance. Jesus was sent to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1b). This Good News is to be proclaimed all over the world, to all people. JESUS is the greatest and most perfect gift anyone can receive!

Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.” — Acts 3:6 (NKJV) We may not have the resources to help someone in need, but we can give them what we do have, Jesus the Christ, the Great Physician. He is the only hope for a lost and dying world. Let them know, Jesus came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows) (John 10:10 AMP). He was sent to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound (Isaiah 61:1). To comfort and console all who mourn, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61:2-3). If any are sick among you, pray for them. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up (James 5:15).

Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.” — Luke 7:22-23 (NKJV) John sent two of his disciples to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?” (Luke 7:10). Let there be NO doubt, Jesus is the One! He is the only One who shed His blood and gave His life, to set us free from sin, death and hell. This Jesus was sent to heal the brokenhearted, and to proclaim liberty to the captives (Isaiah 61:1-2). Therefore, if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36)! Hallelujah!

If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Disciples so often get into trouble; still, God is there every time.  — Psalm 34:18-19 (The Message) If you have received news that hit you like a punch to the gut, please know, God is right there. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed (Psalm 34:18, NLT). He comforts us in all our tribulation. Even when we miss the mark, still, the Father of mercies is right there to help us pick up the pieces and move on, empowered and strengthened.

The living, the living man, he shall praise You, as I do this day; The father shall make known Your truth to the children.  — Isaiah 38:19 (NKJV) Parents give your children full reports on God's faithfulness. Make known His truth to the broken hearted, for He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Make known His truth to those who are down and in despair, for the LORD, is a shield around us, our glory and the One who lifts our heads up high (Psalm 3:3). Make known His truth to those who are overwhelmed, because the LORD is our everlasting peace. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!

I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works.  — Psalm 145:5 (NKJV) Our God is alive and active! The LORD upholds all who fall (Psalm 145:14). He executes justice for the oppressed, and gives food to the hungry. The LORD gives freedom to the prisoners and opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD raises those who are bowed down. He loves the righteous (Psalm 146:7-8). The LORD heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Our heavenly Father  takes pleasure in His people; (Psalm 149:4) Marvelous are His works!

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. — Luke 2:10-11 (NIV) The good news about Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, is a message that should fill everyone's heart with joy. Jesus was sent to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners (Isaiah 61:1). Our Lord and Savior came that we may have life, and that we may have it more abundantly (John 10:10). That includes a healthy, prosperous life on this earth and for all eternity. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day (Psalm 96:2). Hallelujah!
