Keep Silent
Then Rabshakeh stood and cried with a loud voice in Judean, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria. Thus says the king, ‘Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he will not be able to deliver you from his hand; and do not let Hezekiah make you trust in Yahweh, saying, “Yahweh will surely deliver us, and this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.” — 2 Kings 18:28-30 (LSB) But the people kept silent and did not answer him, for the king had commanded, “Do not answer him.” (2 Kings 18:36 AMP) When the enemy throws fiery darts of threats and insults your way, hold your peace. Sometimes, the best approach is to remain silent. Instead of conversing with the enemy, take it to God. Ecclesiastes 3:7 says: there is a time to be silent and a time to speak.
