As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so Yahweh surrounds His people from now until forever. — Psalms 125:2 (LSB) Yahweh covers His people on all sides, not just in the past, but today and forever! …let everyone who is godly pray to Yahweh in a time when He may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters they will not reach us. (See Psalms 32:6-7) Psalms 32:10 (AMP) says: …he who trusts in and relies on the LORD shall be surrounded with compassion and lovingkindness. And Psalms 34:7 (TPT) says: “The angel of Yahweh stooped down to listen as I prayed, encircling me, empowering me, and showing me how to escape. He will do this for everyone who fears God.” Praise God for His protection and His favor. ...let all who take refuge in You be glad, let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, that those who love Your name may exult in You. Those who trust in Yahweh are as Mount Zion, which will not be shaken but will abide forever. (2 Kings 6:15) When the servant asked Elisha what to do, he answered: “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” (See 2 Kings 15-16) Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. — 2 Kings 6:17 (NASB1995) No matter how difficult the circumstances you face, I pray that your eyes would be opened to see with eyes of faith. Though it may seem the enemy has you surrounded, remember that Yahweh is with you, and there are more with you than with the enemy. Amen.

When the attendant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. But the prophet Elisha told him, “ Don’t be afraid! When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha. “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!” The LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. — 2 Kings 6:15-17 (NLT) Do not fear, for there are more with us than with the devil. Though I am surrounded by troubles, you will protect me from the anger of my enemies. You reach out your hand, and the power of your right hand saves me. Don’t abandon me, for you made me. — Psalm 138:7-8 (NLT) You may be surrounded by troubles today, but be confident that the LORD will work it out. The LORD’s plan and purpose for your life will prevail over the evil one. Though you walk in the midst of trouble, He is with you and will protect you. Because of His faithful love, He will not abandon the works of His own hands.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. — Hebrews 12:1-2a (NLT) We all have a race to run, but our courses are not exactly the same. In order to complete our race, we need to keep our eyes on Jesus. Don’t set your eyes on the person who stands in the pulpit and preaches the Word. Don’t look at the brother or sister running next to you and start comparing your races. These are distractions that will slow you down or make you stop running and sit on the sidelines of life, just being a spectator. Keep your eyes on Jesus and run, to the end!

We’ve been surrounded and battered by troubles, but we’re not demoralized; we’re not sure what to do, but we know that God knows what to do; we’ve been spiritually terrorized, but God hasn’t left our side; we’ve been thrown down, but we haven’t broken. — 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (MSG) Whatever life brings your way, know that the LORD God is on your side, and nothing is too difficult for Him. Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, both now and forever (Psalm 125:2 NLT). God never leaves our side. Pile your troubles on God’s shoulders— he’ll carry your load, he’ll help you out. He’ll never let good people topple into ruin (Psalm 55:22 MSG).

But Elisha prayed that the LORD would open his eyes that he may see. Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (2 Kings 6:17). When it seems the enemy has you surrounded on every side, do not fear. There are more on our side than his. If God is for us who can be against? With our God we gain the victory, and He tramples down our enemies (Psalm 108:13). Praise the LORD!

Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.  — Psalm 32:10 (NIV) As we totally trust in the LORD and acknowledge that He is our sole source, we are continually surrounded by His lovingkindness and mercy. Whether we turn to the right or to the left, we find that His love is still there, no matter which direction we go. When we live in reliance on His unfailing love, we close the door to any doubt. We never doubt His goodness, we never question the good plans He has for us, and we never doubt His ability or willingness to take care of us. With the unfailing love of the Most High, we will never be neglected, abandoned or forgotten. Give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love!
