Gain Christ

Image
Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. — Philippians 3:8-9 (NLT) May we get rid of anything or anyone who hinders our relationship with Christ, as though it were rubbish. Nothing can compare to the excellence of knowing Christ intimately, walking with Him daily and become one with Him. Gaining Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior has a value that surpasses anything this world has to offer. In Him, we have everything that pertains to life and godliness. Without Him, we have nothing and can do nothing. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the n...

Forsake All & Follow

For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him. — Luke 5:9-11 (NKJV) One characteristic of a disciple of Jesus Christ is that they forsake all. In Philippians 3:8 (GW), the Apostle Paul says, “I consider everything else worthless because I’m much better off knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. It’s because of him that I think of everything as worthless. I threw it all away in order to gain Christ” Another trait of the early disciples is that they followed Jesus. They did not make any excuses. Jesus said,  “Follow Me” and they simply followed Him. When we forsake all and follow Him, astonishing things happen in our midst!

Turn to the Living God

We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. — Acts 14:15 (NLT) The things of this world are of no value, when compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul suffered the loss of all things, and counted them as rubbish in order to gain Christ (Philippians 3:8). Invest your time, energy and resources into the Kingdom of God. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be (Matthew 6:20-21).

Fulfill Your Promise!

Turn my eyes away from worthless things;  preserve my life according to your word.  Fulfill your promise to your servant,  so that you may be feared. Psalm 119:37-38 (NIV) May all of God's wonderful promises be fulfilled in you. May He give you new life, an abundant and fruitful life, according to His Word. Cast not your eyes on worthless things, but fix them on the Lord JESUS, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Amen!

Count it all as Garbage

Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. Philippians 3:8-9 (NLT) Those things which matter most, must never be sacrificed for the insignificant things. The world has many things to offer that consume our time and energy, and in the end, they will leave us empty and lifeless. The things of this world are worth nothing compared to the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus. Put more of a priority on doing things that lead to a deeper, more intimate relationship with our Savior. Jesus said, " seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, " (Matthew 6:33).
