The Heart Matters

The heart is hopelessly dark and deceitful, a puzzle that no one can figure out. But I, God, search the heart and examine the mind. I get to the heart of the human. I get to the root of things. I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.” —Jeremiah 17:9-10 (MSG)

The LORD is the righteous God, the soul searcher, who looks deep into every heart to examine the thoughts and motives. (See Psalm 7:9 TPT) He is more concerned with the hidden person of the heart, than with your outer appearance. Our hearts grow to be more like Him, as we spend time with Him. Therefore, “…learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the LORD sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him... (See 1 Chronicles 28:9 NLT).

The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him…” —2 Chronicles 16:9a (NLT)
