Better than Life

Image
Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. — Psalm 63:3-5 (NLT) The LORD redeems your life from destruction, and crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies (Psalm 103:4). Cherish His love as more valuable than the air you breathe. When we draw our last breath on this earth, it’s His face we will see for all eternity. Praise Him as long as you live. Seek Him early in the morning and throughout the day. The psalmist says, “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You;” (Psalm 63:1a NKJV). Call upon Him in the night, as  Psalm 63:6 (NKJV) says: “When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches.” Declare His lovingkindness in the morning, and His faithfulness every night! (Psalm 92:2 NKJV)

Hope in God

Image
Give us help from trouble, for the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies. — Psalm 60:11-12 (NKJV) For God alone my soul waits in silence and quietly submits to Him, for my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; My fortress and my defense, I will not be shaken or discouraged  (Psalm 62:5-6 AMP). God is our living hope. O my people, trust in him at all times. (Psalm 62:8a NLT). We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. (Philippians 4:13) From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 61:2 NKJV)

Don't Draw Back

Image
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; and in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by. — Psalm 57:1 (NKJV) When calamities come it is not the time to draw back and blame God. As the Message Bible says in Psalm 57:1, “ I’ve run to you for dear life. ” Call upon God and seek refuge in the shadow of His wing. Psalm 57:2 (AMP) says, I will cry to God Most High, Who accomplishes all things on my behalf [for He completes my purpose in His plan].  Let your soul trust in Him. Our heavenly Father will ensure His good purpose and plan for your life is fulfilled. Amen.

Wait & Watch

Image
Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. — Psalm 27:14 (NLT) Sometimes, we look at situations and try to judge them prematurely. While we only see a fraction of what is going on, God is at work behind the scenes bringing everything together for His good purpose and plan. Don’t critique the masterpiece before it is complete. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. (Romans 8:28 NLT). The element of time is involved in this process. So after we have done all that He instructed us to do, let us wait patiently and watch with expectation to see God work things out in wonderful ways that only He can.

Call upon God

Image
As for me, I will call upon God, and the LORD shall save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice. He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me… — Psalm 55:16-18a (NKJV) God has called us to peace in the midst of war. Inquire of Him in every battle. He has all your days written in His book and He knows the best way for you to go. Staying on the course He has for you leads to success and victory. Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22 NKJV)

Hope & Expectation

Image
Do not let your heart envy sinners [who live godless lives and have no hope of salvation], but [continue to] live in the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the LORD day by day. Surely there is a future [and a reward], and your hope and expectation will not be cut off. — Proverbs 23:17-18 (AMP) Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become restless and disturbed within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence. (Psalm 42:5 AMP). Know that God is with you. Do not lose hope. Your hope will not be disappointed. Expect Him to do great things in you and in your life, as you sincerely seek Him and His will. … he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6b NKJV)

Guard Your Heart

Image
My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer. — Psalm 45:1 (NKJV) What is your heart overflowing with today? Is your heart troubled, full of fear and anxiety? Or does it overflow with a good theme? May our hearts be full of God’s unconditional love, His mercy and grace, His kindness and compassion.  Let us guard our hearts and only let in what is good. Jesus says, in John 14:1 (NLT), “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” When we trust in the Lord, our hearts are strengthened and we can have peace. When our hearts overflow with the truth, God’s Word, our hope is alive and we thrive. Let your heart overflow with a good theme. Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life. (Proverbs 4:23 NASB)

Boast in God

Image
Through You we will push down our enemies; Through Your name we will trample those who rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, nor shall my sword save me. But You have saved us from our enemies, and have put to shame those who hated us. In God we boast all day long, and praise Your name forever. Selah — Psalm 44:5-8 (NKJV) Let us not put our trust in our abilities or resources. It’s by His power that resides in us and works through us that we are able to accomplish anything. John 15:15 says apart from Christ we can do nothing. If we boast, may we boast in God alone, all the day long. The Message Bible says, “All day we parade God’s praise…” (Psalm 448a). My soul makes its boast in the LORD; The humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice. (Psalm 34:2 AMP)

Know the Truth

Image
Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” — John 8:31-32 (NLT) We can know the truth theoretically (in our heads) or we can know the truth from our experience and that is when it gets into our hearts. When we know the truth, we live it and it makes us free. When we know the victory Jesus provided for us, we walk in victory. When we truly know that God is love, we are free to live and walk in His love. When we realize that God has given us a peace that surpasses all understanding, we live in peace. Glory hallelujah! Oh, send out Your light and Your truth! Let them lead me… (Psalm 43:3a (NKJV)

Commit Your Way

Image
Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. — Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV) Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], and your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance] (Proverbs 16:3 AMP). The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand. (Psalm 37:23-24 NLT) Amen!

Precious is His Unfailing Love

Image
How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights. For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see. — Psalm 36:7-9 (NLT) The unfailing love of God is to be highly treasured and greatly appreciated. Let us never take it for granted. Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds (Psalm 36:5). All of humanity can take shelter in the shadow of His wings. God is no respecter of persons. Each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon us. (Psalm 42:8). Drink from His river of delights, for He is the fountain of life, and out of your heart will flow rivers of living water.

Lack No Good Thing

Image
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. — Psalm 34:10 (NKJV) The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; (Psalm 34:19 NIV). For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly (Psalm 84:11 NKJV). Seek the LORD with your whole heart and follow Him at all times. He is working for your good.

Great is His Goodness!

Image
Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for those who fear You, which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men! — Psalm 31:19 (NKJV) Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! (Psalm 118:1) The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works (Psalm 145:9). His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! (Psalm 34:8) The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7 NKJV) His plans for us are good. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT). I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13 NKJV)

Strength & Help

Image
The LORD is my strength and my [impenetrable] shield; My heart trusts [with unwavering confidence] in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I shall thank Him and praise Him. — Psalm 28:7 (AMP) When your heart fully trusts in the LORD you will find strength. Psalm 27:1 says the LORD is the strength of your life. When you go through deep waters, He will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. (Isaiah 43:2 NLT) Give thanks and praise to the LORD, our God. He is mighty to save!

Love the Habitation of His House

Image
LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house, and the place where Your glory dwells. — Psalm 26:8 (NKJV) One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple  (Psalm 27:4 NIV). Let us love the habitation of His house, the place where His glorious presence dwells. That’s the only quiet, secure place in a noisy world, the perfect getaway, far from the buzz of traffic (Psalm 27:5 MSG). A single day in His courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! (Psalm 84:10a) Faithfulness is the foundation of His house. Great is His faithfulness! Holiness adorns His house… (Psalm 93:5). Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness! We enter His house through doors of grace and mercy. The second we cross the threshold, our souls are flooded with His marvelous light. His unfailing love fills the air of every room. The walls of the LORD’s dwelling place a...

Live Full Lives

Image
And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. — Ephesians 3:17-19 (MSG) As we let Christ’s love flow through every creak and crevice of our hearts, we begin to live in the fullness of all that God has for us. When His love permeates the fibers of our being, it brings healing and wholeness. The hard heart becomes soft and pliable, able for seed to grow and bear fruit. Christ's love gives us inner strength to triumph over troubles. When we share His love with others it has the power to change lives for all eternity. Let us live full lives in Christ. “...I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” (John 10:10b AMP)

Let Him In

Image
Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.  — Psalm 24:7-9 (NKJV) Was this psalmist telling us to lift up our heads because we are in a state of slumber? Let us arise, for the glory of the LORD is shining on us. If your head is hung low today, look UP. Let us open the gates of our hearts that the King of glory may enter. Don't let the bars of doubt and fear keep Him out. May we open the gates of our eyes and see the beauty of the LORD. May we open the gates of our ears to hear His still small voice. Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, LORD. (Psalm 89:15 NLT) The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they c...

A Good Word

Image
Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad. — Proverbs 12:25 (NKJV) Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down (Proverbs 12:25a AMP), and the good word that makes it glad is God’s Word. Philippians 4:6-7 (AMP) says, do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours].

My Support

Image
They confronted me in the day of my disaster, but the LORD was my support. — Psalm 18:18 (AMP) When the enemy confronts you, it is God who arms you with strength, and makes your way perfect. (Psalm 18:32 NKJV). He arms you with strength for the battle; (Psalm 18:39 NKJV). Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). The enemy likes to come at us when we are down or weak, but thanks be to God, He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:57)

Stick with God

Image
I have set the LORD always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved. — Psalm 16:8 (NKJV) When we humbly position ourselves before the LORD, He will be our stability. The winds of adversity will blow, but He is our strong foundation and we will not be moved. Draw near to God. He is our mighty fortress and safe refuge in times of trouble. Day and night I’ll stick with God; I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go. (Psalm 16:8 MSG) Cast your burden on the LORD, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22 NKJV)

He deals Bountifully

Image
But I have trusted and relied on and been confident in Your lovingkindness and faithfulness; My heart shall rejoice and delight in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt bountifully with me. — Psalm 13:5-6 (AMP) When people run away from God, that is a sign that they don’t understand the true nature of our heavenly Father. God is good to us. Proverbs 10:6 (NLT) says, The godly are showered with blessings. It is the enemy that comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10a). Jesus came that we may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. (John 10:10b AMP). His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness… (2 Peter 1:3 NKJV) He has given us everything we need to live the kind of life He designed for us to live. Refuse to let the enemy steal what has been given to you. Be confident in God's lovingkindness and faithfulness. Rely on Him to be there when you need Him most. God is so rich in ...

Know His Name

Image
The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. — Psalm 9:9-10 (NKJV) Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD! Our help is in the name of the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 124:8) His name endures forever. The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. (Proverbs 18:10). His name is above any other name. It carries more weight than any other name. There is wonder working power in the name of the LORD. Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its going down the LORD’s name is to be praised. (Psalm 113:2-3) Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember and trust in the name of the LORD our God. (Psalm 20:7 AMP)

“I will Rejoice”

Image
Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.  — Habakkuk 3:17-18 (NKJV) I would sum up this passage of scripture like this: Though circumstances are not perfect, I will rejoice in the LORD, my God. Instead of complaining and finding fault, let us continually give thanks and praise to our Mighty God. Colossians 3:15 (NLT) reminds us that we are to always be thankful.  We can rejoice and be thankful at all times because our heavenly Father is our provider and no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. (Psalm 84:11) I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. (Psalm 9:2 NKJV)

Look Up

Image
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, and I will look up. — Psalm 5:3 (NKJV) At a recent safe driving class, the instructor said, we tend to follow where our eyes go. Maybe that is why the Word of God tells us to look up. Why look up? Because that is where your help comes from. Psalm 121:1 says, “ I will lift up my eyes to the hills— from whence comes my help?”  Look up in expectation of an answer. Watch and wait for Him to speak to your heart (Psalm 5:3b AMP). Look up in expectation of seeing Him move on your behalf. Looking at circumstances may cause you to look down. But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. (Psalm 3:3 NKJV)

Shining ever Brighter

Image
The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. — Proverbs 4:18 (NIV) The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” (Psalm 32:8 NLT). The path the Lord has for you leads to everlasting life and it grows brighter and brighter. Behind you are the days of doom and gloom. His light shines in the darkness. God has good things to come. Your future in God glows brighter each day. Keep taking the steps of faith, as He leads, and you will reach the glorious destination God has for you.

Stand Strong!

Image
He may have a great army, but they are merely men. We have the LORD our God to help us and to fight our battles for us!” Hezekiah’s words greatly encouraged the people. — 2 Chronicles 32:8 (NLT) When the enemy attacks, do not be afraid or discouraged, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Nothing is too difficult for our great God. Stand strong in the LORD and on His Word. How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] are all those who take refuge in Him! (Psalm 2:12b)

Know Him Better

Image
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. — Ephesians 1:17 (NIV) The most meaningful quest we can embark upon as we journey through this life is to know God better. Not just a knowing in our head, but in our hearts. As we grow deeper and more intimate in our relationship with our heavenly Father, we develop a rock solid trust in Him. We learn to trust Him not only for our salvation, but with every area of our lives. As we grow in our knowledge of Him, we begin to comprehend the width, length, depth and height of this amazing love that the Father lavishes on us. A love that never quits. A love that never gives up on us, no matter how many time we mess up. As we daily walk with Him, we personally experience that great love in the very fibers of our being. His wonderful love, reveals His mercy, grace, compassion, and kindness. It's the power of His mighty love that ...

The Latter Part

Image
The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys. — Job 42:12 (NIV) Whether your former life was great or not so good, the LORD can make the rest of your life, the absolute best of your life. He will turn your sadness into gladness, and your mourning into dancing. He takes the barren and makes it fruitful. He fills what is empty. Our mighty God will restore what the enemy has stolen and what the locusts has eaten. What is dead, our living God can breathe new life into it. What you once thought was a problem will be your praise. “Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts in and relies on the LORD and whose hope and confident expectation is the LORD.” (Jeremiah 17:7 AMP)

He Delivers!

Image
For You have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living. — Psalm 116:8-9 (NKJV) God says “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” (Psalm 50:15 NKJV). Call upon Him as long as you live. Psalm 34:17 (NKJV) says, the righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Remain confident of this: You will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13). The fact that you are walking in the land of the living means that God has somewhere for you to go and it is good!

Return & Rest

Image
God, the Master, The Holy of Israel, has this solemn counsel:  “Your salvation requires you to turn back to me and stop your silly efforts to save yourselves. Your strength will come from settling down in complete dependence on me— The very thing you’ve been unwilling to do.” — Isaiah 30:15 (MSG) “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength…” (Isaiah 30:15 NLT). May we return to the LORD with our whole hearts and rest in His loving arms. Rest in His goodness and grace. Rest in His will and in His ways. Rest in His compassion and kindness. When we quietly and confidently trust in the LORD we find strength to overcome every challenge. Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; (Isaiah 40:31a)
