Believe.
Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures. Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?” —Luke 24:25-26 (NLT)
The disciples were grieving and weeping after the events of the crucifixion. (See Mark 16:10) They had no hope because they did not believe the Word of God, that the Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day. (See Luke 24:7) Let us not lose hope and become discouraged while we are in the waiting period, the seemingly silent Saturday, between the suffering and trials of Friday and the glory of the fulfillment of all that has been promised in the Scriptures. Always trust and believe in our risen Savior, the Living Word. Jesus said, blessed are those who believe without seeing Him. (See John 20:29)
Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. —Romans 15:4 (NLT)
