Abide in the Vine

“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” —John 15:4-5 (NASB)

If we want to live a fruitful life, we must stay connected to Jesus. Our fulfillment comes as we abide in the vine and receive what He gives us. Connected we receive all that we need to survive and thrive: life, living water, light, nourishment, strength, etc. And our union with Christ enables us to grow and mature, and bring our purpose and destiny to fruition. If we become disconnected from the vine, our fruit will wither and die, because it has been cut off from its source of life.

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.” —John 15:1 (NASB)

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” Our joy is not to be based on the fluctuating circumstances of our lives. We experience fullness of joy in the Presence of Yahweh and He is always with us. No matter what season of life you are going through, have continual and contagious joy. Let your joy overflow and spill out onto those around you.
