Set It Aside

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God [set aside self-righteous pride], so that He may exalt you [to a place of honor in His service] at the appropriate time, casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].
1 Peter 5:6-7 (AMP)

These two verses are often used separately, but I believe they go together as one. First we must set aside pride and admit that we can't do anything of value without God. He gives us the strength, wisdom and knowledge. In John 15:5 (NLT), Jesus said, apart from Him we can do nothing.

Once we humble ourselves and acknowledge that we need Him, we are able to cast all our cares upon Him, in full assurance that He is able to handle everything that concerns us. And we realize how much He cares for us with deepest affection, because He is faithful to deliver us from all of our troubles. He is the Way Maker and the Promise Keeper. Humble yourselves under His mighty hand and cast all your cares on Him.
