Recognize & Respond
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. —Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)
The best way to recognize God's will and respond to His call is to consistently spend time drawing near to Him, and renew your mind with His Word. We need to continually renew our minds with the Word of God because our adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (See 1 Peter 5:8 NASB) And the only offensive weapon we have is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (See Ephesians 6:17). If we don’t know the Word, we allow the enemy to clutter our minds with his lies and get us to doubt God and take detours away from His will. Then we go along with the world’s ways instead of following the higher ways of the LORD.
