We Do Not Belong

I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.” —John 17:14-18 (NLT)

As followers of Christ, we are not supposed to conform to the world and its ways. We do not belong to this world. We are on assignment to give them JESUS, to spread the love of God and share His Word, the truth. To let His light shine through us, into the darkness of this world. Once we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we became citizens of the Kingdom of God, a higher and better Kingdom, one of righteousness, peace and joy. Let us declare the goodness of our great God in giving His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (See John 3:16) …the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. (1 John 4:9 NKJV)

First Peter 2:9 (NLT) says, we are a chosen people. We are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, we can show others the goodness of God, for he called us out of the darkness into his wonderful light. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” (2 Corinthians 5:20 NLT)
