A Very Present Help

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah —Psalm 46:1-3 (ESV)

Self-sufficiency is an oxymoron. We are not sufficient in and of ourselves. Jesus said: “…apart from Me you can do nothing.” (See John 15:5) In 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV), He told the Apostle Paul: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” The Lord is always ready to help. Let us rely on His help at all times and in all situations. He is not only a very present help, but He is also a well-proved help in trouble. (See Psalm 46:1 AMP)
