Have an Understanding Heart
“So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” — 1 Kings 3:9 (NASB1995) The LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream and God said, “Ask what you wish Me to give you.” (See 1 Kings 3:5) Instead of focusing on riches for himself or revenge on his enemies, King Solomon asked for an understanding heart, and it was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. (See 1 Kings 3:10) Let us seek to have an understanding heart, to discern between good and evil. Proverbs 14:33 says: Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding… Make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding; (Proverbs 2:2 NASB1995) May the LORD give us understanding according to His word.
