Hear the Word
Then Shaphan the scribe showed the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” and Shaphan read it before the king. Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, that he tore his clothes. —2 Kings 22:11 (NKJV)
When king Josiah heard the Word, his heart was tender and he humbled himself before the LORD. (See 2 Kings 22:19) He did right in the sight of the LORD and walked in all the way of his father David, nor did he turn aside to the right or to the left. (2 King 22:2) Before him there was no king like him who turned to the LORD with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; nor did any like him arise after him. (2 Kings 23:25)
With all the voices that bombard the airwaves, let us intentionally keep our ears open to hear the Word of God, and listen to what it says. Romans 10:17 (NKJV) says: faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Let us treasure the Holy Scriptures in our hearts and do what is right in His sight. Turn to Yahweh with all your heart, soul and might. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:6 NASB1995)
