A Roundabout Way

When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle. —Exodus 13:17-18 (NLT)

When I'm driving, my husband and I rarely agree on the shortest or fastest route to our destination. But praise the LORD, on our journey through life, our Heavenly Father is our guide. Yahweh may not always lead you on the shortest route to your destination. However, don’t give in to the temptation to take the shortcut, against God's will. His protection and provision is on the path He has set before you. We should not follow someone else's path, if that is not the way the Holy Spirit is leading us. You are called according to His purpose for you. (See Romans 8:28) Continue to follow Yahweh. For He knows the plans He has for you, and the best pathway for you to take. 

The LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.” —Psalms 32:8 (NLT)

Then, apply it to our daily lives by actually doing what it says. Great peace have those who love the law of the LORD, and nothing causes them to stumble. (See Psalms 119:165 NKJV) As pressure and stress bear down on you, find joy in His commands. (See Psalms 119:143 NLT) Psalms 78:8 (NKJV) says, its a stubborn and rebellious generation, that did not set its heart aright, and whose spirit was not faithful to God. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” Our joy is not to be based on the fluctuating circumstances of our lives. We experience fullness of joy in the Presence of Yahweh and He is always with us. No matter what season of life you are going through, have continual and contagious joy. Let your joy overflow and spill out onto those around you.
