Our Generous God
But the LORD God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.” —Genesis 2:16:17 (NLT)
God told Adam they could freely eat of every tree, except one. However, the serpent got Eve to focus on the one thing they lacked, instead of the abundance that was freely given to them by God. (See Genesis 3:1-6) Yahweh is an extremely generous God. His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and virtue, (See 2 Peter 1:3). If it does not pertain to life, it is something that leads to death. Why pursue those things?
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17 NASB1995) Our Heavenly Father is perfect and He never changes. We can abide in the loving, Father of lights, or listen to the devil, the father of lies. (See John 8:44)
Psalms 84:11 says: …No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Open your heart and be a partaker of all the wonderful gifts Yahweh has given to us: His wonderful Word, full of promises, a more abundant life, everlasting peace, unspeakable joy, unfailing love, eternal salvation, and victory. And the most important gift: He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (See John 3:16) O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! (See Psalms 34:8)
