Surrounded

So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. —2 Kings 6:16-17 (NASB1995)

After the king of Aram was informed that Elisha, the prophet, tells the king of Israel the words he speaks in the privacy of his bedroom, the king sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city. When the attendant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, behold, an army with horses and chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” (See 2 Kings 6:11-15) But Elisha prayed and Yahweh opened his eyes.

When you feel surrounded by the enemy, don't panic. Remember, there are more with us than those with the enemy. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. (1 John 4:4 NASB) May your eyes be open to faithfully see what Yahweh is doing in your midst. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever. He blesses the righteous and surrounds us with favor as with a shield. (See Psalms 125:2 & 5:12)
