You Choose
Jesus said, “I tell you most solemnly that anyone who chooses a life of sin is trapped in a dead-end life and is, in fact, a slave. A slave can’t come and go at will. The Son, though, has an established position, the run of the house. So if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through.” —John 8:34-36 (MSG)
A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. (John 8:35 NLT) See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God; and such we are… (See 1 John 3:1 NASB1995)
Yahweh has set before each person life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days…” (See Deuteronomy 30:19-20) Notice that your choice also affects those around you. When we choose life, and the kingdom of God, we choose freedom, righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. The rewards are not ours alone, but those in our community also benefit. In addition, we leave a legacy and a sure foundation for our descendants.
“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve... but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” —Joshua 24:15 (NASB1995)
