God of Restoration
“You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.” —Psalms 71:20 (NLT)
According to 2 Corinthians 4:17 (NASB1995), our affliction is momentary and light. You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 2:3 NKJV) So after you have suffered a little while, God will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. (See 1 Peter 5:10 NLT) In the meantime, keep on hoping for His help, and praise Him more and more. (See Psalms 71:14 NLT) Our mighty God is a God of restoration.
“Unless the LORD had helped me, I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave. I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.” (Psalms 94:17-19 NLT) In Psalms 30:2 (NLT) David says: “O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health.” In Isaiah 57:15 (NLT), the Holy One says: “I live in the high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble. I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.”
I have suffered much, O LORD; restore my life again as you promised. —Psalms 119:107 (NLT)
