Be On The Alert

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. —1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)

Our adversary is the accuser of the brethren, who accuses us of sinful behavior before our God day and night. (See Revelation 12:10) We need to stay alert, because the devil is always looking for someone to attack. He is the thief who comes only to steal and kill and destroy;  (See John 10:10a)  So submit to [the authority of] God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him] and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 AMP) …be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. (Ephesians 6:10-11 NASB)
