Hear & Heed
“They come to you as people come and sit before you as My people and hear your words, but they do not do them, for they do the lustful desires expressed by their mouth, and their heart goes after their greedy gain.” —Ezekiel 33:31 (LSB)
The scattered remnants of Israel living among the ruined cities went to hear the word of the LORD from the prophet Ezekiel for entertainment. They heard the word but they had no intention of doing as the LORD instructed. (See Ezekiel 33:24,32 NLT) In Matthew 7:26-27 (NASB1995) Yeshua says: “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.” However He says: “…everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock.” (See Matthew 7:24-25) May we not only hear the Word of God (His Holy Scriptures) but also let it seep into our hearts, speak it out of our mouths and let it bring forth the appropriate action.
