Fix Your Hope

Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. —1 Timothy 6:17 (NASB1995)

Who or what is your hope fixed upon? Is it material wealth, the government, a particular person, your physical appearance, or your possessions? Rich or poor, may we all center our hope on the living God, Who has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness. (See 2 Peter 1:3) He is the God of more than enough, and He is our Source. Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. (James 1:17 LSB) How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in Yahweh his God, Who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever; (Psalms 146:5-6 LSB)

Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! —Psalms 43:5 (NLT)

Then, apply it to our daily lives by actually doing what it says. Great peace have those who love the law of the LORD, and nothing causes them to stumble. (See Psalms 119:165 NKJV) As pressure and stress bear down on you, find joy in His commands. (See Psalms 119:143 NLT) Psalms 78:8 (NKJV) says, its a stubborn and rebellious generation, that did not set its heart aright, and whose spirit was not faithful to God. Blessed and favored by God are those who keep His testimonies, and who [consistently] seek Him and long for Him with all their heart. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” Our joy is not to be based on the fluctuating circumstances of our lives. We experience fullness of joy in the Presence of Yahweh and He is always with us. No matter what season of life you are going through, have continual and contagious joy. Let your joy overflow and spill out onto those around you.
